ROLE OVERVIEW
You will be joining a specialized operational technology team as Solution Architect (Custom Applications) and will be responsible for architecting and integrating COTS enterprise systems (ERP, HCM, Finance, Payroll, BI) and bespoke applications across On-premise, Cloud, and Hybrid environments. Additionally, the role involves designing custom APIs outside of standard integration platforms like Boomi/MuleSoft, applying modern architectural principles like Microservices and SOA, and providing technical guidance during software procurement processes.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Translating complex business requirements and non-functional demands into viable, end-to-end technical solutions.
Designing comprehensive solution architectures, encompassing conceptual, contextual, logical, and detailed future-state models.
Conducting detailed option analyses, feasibility assessments, and risk evaluations to empower stakeholders in their decision-making processes.
Providing vital architectural expertise and support throughout various stages of the software procurement process.
Identifying, documenting, and managing technical debt while estimating architectural complexity and planning necessary resources.
Collaborating closely with enterprise and domain architects to ensure all designs align seamlessly with the broader organizational strategy.
Communicating technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring implications are clearly understood.
Presenting your architectural designs for endorsement at internal governance forums, such as the Architecture Review Board.
MORE ABOUT YOU
5+ years' proven experience as a Solution Architect, including at least two years focused specifically on IT and Operational Technology (OT) applications and systems.
Strong track record of designing and delivering enterprise-level integrated systems across core business domains such as ERP, Human Capital Management, Finance, Payroll, and Business Intelligence.
Demonstrated ability to architect and deploy solutions across diverse hosting environments, including on-premise, Cloud, and Hybrid infrastructures leveraging SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS models.
High-level expertise in system integration patterns and technologies (particularly Boomi), backed by a deep capability in defining and engineering robust APIs.
Thorough understanding of modern architectural frameworks, encompassing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), microservices, event-driven patterns, data integration, and API Gateways.
Pragmatic, collaborative mindset with the ability to thrive in a challenging agile landscape and successfully manage competing priorities across multiple initiatives.
Background involving operational systems like timetabling, fleet management, rostering, or digital information signage will be added advantage.
Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or a related field, supplemented by technical certifications in platforms like Azure, AWS, Boomi, or architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, are highly regarded.
