Summary
Designs and refines cloud-native architectures for research IT systems, integrating AI/ML and FAIR-compliant data flows to modernize pharmaceutical digital solutions.
Job Description
• Responsible for creating and constantly refining the solution architecture for commercial and home-built digital solutions in strong collaboration with other software & data architects, and software engineers.
• Responsible for evaluating commercial software solutions and assessing the required effort to integrate it with existing digital solutions to enable a seamless experience for R&D scientists.
Strategic Initiatives:
• Contributor to strategic initiative to modernize and evolve the research application landscape.
• Ensure alignment and high engagement with organizational strategies.
Collaboration:
• Collaborating with other architects, product owner/manager, software developers, and application experts to define and design digital research solutions.
Technical Design and Architecture:
• Lead end-to-end architecture for systems and integrations within the department portfolio, including cloud-native platforms, AI, data flows, and incorporation of commercial and home-built digital solutions.
• Demonstrates software architecture subject matter expertise.
• Ensure platform decisions align with enterprise standards, IT security policy, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Produce Architecture Options Assessments, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), reference architecture, and phased roadmaps for legacy modernization and new technical opportunities.
• Apply recognized frameworks (for example TOGAF ADM and Domain-Driven Design) and communicate designs to both leadership and engineering audiences.
Must have skills:
• Demonstrated subject matter expertise in software architecture, cloud-native solutions, and pharmaceutical research IT.
• Broad expertise ranging from research data management to scientific digital solutions.
• Knowledge of applications and architectures that enable highly automated, high throughput screening environments.
• Extensive technical knowledge and experience of at least one object-oriented coding language (.NET / C# and Python preferred).
• Hands-on experience with microservices, event-driven architectures (Apache Kafka / event streaming), containerization, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Bicep).
• Proven track record in applied AI/ML architecture.
• Solid knowledge of domain-driven architecture and solution design.
• Relevant knowledge and experience of the FAIR principles.
