Hertfordshire HQ with a Hybrid working pattern
Are you a Solution Architect who can turn complex business requirements, fragmented systems and challenging data flows into clear, practical technology solutions?
We are recruiting for a major UK organisation delivering essential infrastructure services and investing in the continued modernisation of its enterprise technology estate.
You will work across a varied environment encompassing operational platforms, work management systems, ERP, middleware, cloud services, business intelligence and data warehousing. You will help project teams understand the complete end-to-end solution, reduce delivery risk and make informed architectural decisions.
This is not a role confined to strategy or documentation. You will remain close to delivery, supporting initiatives from discovery and option assessment through high-level design, governance and implementation.
THE ROLE
As a Solution Architect, you will:
• Translate business requirements into clear, deliverable solution architectures
• Produce high-level designs, logical architecture models and technical decision records
• Design secure, scalable, resilient and cost-effective technology solutions
• Define application interactions, integrations, APIs, data flows and dependencies
• Assess current architecture and identify risks, gaps and opportunities for simplification
• Evaluate solution options and communicate the associated costs, benefits and trade-offs
• Guide delivery teams through design and implementation challenges
• Ensure proposed solutions comply with enterprise architecture and security standards
• Work alongside Enterprise Architects, Platform Architects and business stakeholders
• Promote reuse of existing capabilities, common services and proven patterns
• Present designs through architecture governance and review forums
• Contribute to future-state architecture and wider technology improvement initiatives
ABOUT YOU
You will need proven experience in solution architecture, with the ability to work across business, application, integration, data and technology considerations.
Your experience should include:
• Designing solutions across complex enterprise technology environments
• Creating high-level designs and effective architecture artefacts
• Cloud and hybrid architectures involving IaaS, PaaS and SaaS
• Integration architecture, APIs, middleware and enterprise data flows
• Data architecture, migration and information management considerations
• Security-by-design, resilience and regulatory compliance
• Identifying architectural risks, assumptions and dependencies
• Assessing options and making clear, evidence-based recommendations
• Communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Supporting projects delivered through Agile, Waterfall or hybrid methods
Experience with Microsoft Azure, Oracle Fusion or Salesforce would be particularly valuable. Knowledge of API-first design, event-driven architecture, microservices or enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF would also be beneficial.
Previous experience within infrastructure, utilities, transport, defence, engineering or another regulated or operationally critical sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
THE PACKAGE
• Salary of £75,000–£90,000, depending on experience
• Discretionary annual bonus
• Private healthcare
• Healthcare cash plan
• Matched or contributory pension
• 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
• Life assurance
• 24-hour online GP service
• Enhanced family leave
• Employee assistance and recognition programmes
• Retail discounts and additional salary-benefit schemes
This is an excellent opportunity to influence significant business and technology change within a complex organisation whose services form part of the UK’s essential infrastructure.
