About the Role
This is a client-facing architecture role. You will own the platform design and the client relationship on the technical side, while our BI developers handle hands-on build work such as DAX, reports, and pipelines. You'll work closely with clients from first discussion through delivery, and help shape how we grow our Fabric and AI offerings.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Advisory

  • Lead discovery workshops with clients to understand business goals and translate them into Microsoft Fabric architectures and roadmaps.
  • Lead a range of client engagements, including assessments, architecture and design sessions, proofs of concept, pilots, optimization engagements, and production rollouts.
  • Advise clients on migrating and modernizing existing Power BI, Azure Synapse, and Azure Data Factory environments to Microsoft Fabric.
  • Guide clients on Power BI Premium to Fabric transitions.
  • Advise clients on AI capabilities in Fabric, such as Copilot and Fabric data agents, and help identify practical use cases with realistic expectations.
  • Support pre-sales activities, including solution design, effort estimation, proposals, and client presentations.

Architecture & Design

  • Design end-to-end Fabric solutions covering OneLake, Lakehouse and Warehouse, data pipelines, semantic models, and Power BI.
  • Make key architecture decisions, including the right storage mode for each scenario (Import, DirectQuery, or Direct Lake) and the right data layering approach.
  • Identify risks and dependencies early, and agree practical paths to production with client stakeholders.

Standards, Governance & Capacity

  • Define architecture standards, best practices, and design patterns for the delivery team, and review their work for quality.
  • Produce clear architecture decision records, technical documentation, and reusable delivery assets that improve consistency across projects.
  • Plan and administer Fabric capacity, including sizing, cost estimation, performance monitoring, and optimization.
  • Set up governance, security, and access controls, including workspace strategy, row-level security, sensitivity labels, and Microsoft Purview integration.

Team & Practice Growth

  • Mentor developers and guide them on design decisions.
  • Stay current with the Fabric roadmap and share knowledge with the internal team.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 9+ years in data and analytics, with strong Power BI architecture experience (data modeling, semantic model design, performance, and enterprise deployment).
  • Hands-on experience designing and delivering at least one or two Microsoft Fabric implementations.
  • Solid understanding of Fabric components: OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Factory, Direct Lake, and capacity management.
  • Experience with data governance, security, and CI/CD practices (deployment pipelines, Git integration).
  • Awareness of Copilot in Fabric and Power BI, and what it takes to make data and semantic models AI-ready.
  • Strong client-facing skills: confident leading workshops, presenting architectures, and handling stakeholder questions.
  • Ability to review technical work and guide developers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Good to Have

  • Microsoft certifications such as DP-600, DP-700, PL-300, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
  • Experience migrating Power BI, Azure Synapse, or Azure Data Factory platforms to Fabric.
  • Experience with Azure data services (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Databricks, Azure AI Foundry).
  • Prior experience in a consulting firm or Microsoft partner organization.
  • Pre-sales or solutioning experience, including proposals and estimations.
