Solution Architect

Solution Architect - Digital Te Au Reka Services

Te Haeata/The Opportunity

Join the Digital Te Au Reka team and help shape the future of justice services in Aotearoa New Zealand.

As a Solution Architect, you will play a key role in the ongoing evolution of Te Au Reka, one of the Ministry's largest digital transformation programmes. Working within the Application Support and Continuous Improvement team, you will be responsible for the solution architecture of the live service, ensuring it remains stable, secure and fit for the future as new capability is delivered.

You will work alongside programme Solution Architects, delivery teams, vendors and business stakeholders to ensure every release transitions smoothly into production. You will also help guide the coexistence of Te Au Reka and the current case management system (CMS), ensuring architecture decisions support both today's operational needs and tomorrow's direction.

This is an opportunity to influence architecture beyond project delivery, helping bridge change and operations while supporting a service that will transform how justice is delivered across Aotearoa.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and evolve solution architectures that support the ongoing operation of Te Au Reka.
  • Partner with programme architects and delivery teams to ensure successful transition of new capabilities into production.
  • Provide architectural leadership across application support, operational improvement, co-existence and future releases.
  • Ensure alignment between Te Au Reka and existing platforms throughout the coexistence period.
  • Build trusted relationships with business stakeholders, vendors and technical teams to deliver sustainable outcomes.

Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience

Skills

  • Ability to build trusted relationships with technical and business stakeholders at all levels and work with them to find the appropriate solutions.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking to solve complex business and technology challenges.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills to explain architectural decisions.
  • Ability to balance operational stability with continuous improvement and the delivery of new capability.

Experience

  • Experience of working with users to understand their business objectives and providing solutions that help achieve those objectives, as opposed to just delivering technology.
  • Demonstrated Solution Architecture or senior technical leadership within large, complex organisations.
  • Experience designing enterprise solutions across cloud and SaaS platforms such as AWS, Azure and Dynamics 365.
  • Experience of working with legacy systems and how these can be migrated into more modern technology.
  • A working knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application within Te Tāhū o te Ture
  • Experience within the New Zealand public sector, an understanding of the machinery of government, or knowledge of Te Reo Māori would be advantageous.

No candidate will meet every single desired qualification. If your experience looks a little different from what we have outlined and you believe you can bring value to the role, we would love to hear from you.
