The opportunity
The Solution Architect leads the development of user-centric solution architectures. They analyse and implement detailed solution architectures for projects. This position will also assess vendor options and negotiate procurement.
What you'll do
Lead the design of innovative, user-centred solution architectures that align with the University's ICT strategy, enterprise architecture principles, and long-term technology roadmap.
Partner with business and ICT leaders to translate complex business requirements into scalable, secure and sustainable technology solutions that deliver meaningful outcomes.
Provide architectural leadership across a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose, aligned to strategic roadmaps, and support a cohesive technology landscape.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and technology vendors to evaluate solution options, provide expert technical guidance, and influence procurement decisions that deliver best value for the University.
Champion best practice in architecture, security and data management, identifying opportunities to improve digital capability while ensuring compliance with University standards and governance.
Mentor and inspire technical teams, fostering innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement while contributing to the delivery of world-class digital services for staff and students.
What we're looking for
Postgraduate qualifications, in a relevant field or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and demonstrated experience.
Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams, including staff performance management, coaching, mentoring and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Extensive experience as a Solution Architect within a complex enterprise environment, with the ability to design and deliver scalable, secure and user-centred technology solutions.
Strong knowledge and practical experience applying enterprise architecture frameworks and architectural governance to support strategic technology decision-making.
Broad technical expertise across application, integration, data and infrastructure technologies, with the ability to translate business requirements into effective end-to-end solutions.
Experience in architecture planning, roadmapping and implementation, ensuring technology solutions align with organisational strategy, business objectives and enterprise standards.
Experience working within the higher education sector or a similarly large, complex organisation, with an understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with delivering enterprise technology services.
