Solution Engineer

About the opportunity | Ko te āheinga:

We are looking for a Solution Engineer to join our Information and Communication Technology (ICT) team at Hawke’s Bay Regional Council. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Napier.


Integration and solution development are at the heart of this role. You will design, develop, and support integrations, APIs, automated workflows, applications, and reporting solutions that improve how Council delivers services and enables our people to work more effectively.

Working across Azure Integration Services, Power Platform, SQL, and related Microsoft technologies, you will help deliver secure, scalable, and supportable solutions that align with our technology standards and strategic direction. Experience with technologies such as Azure Logic Apps, API Management (APIM), Azure Functions, Azure DevOps, and SQL will be highly valued. You will also have the opportunity to develop and support solutions built using C#, including our existing in-house applications and Azure Function Apps that form part of our growing integration platform.

You will work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and contribute across the full solution lifecycle, from design and development through to deployment and ongoing support. You will also have the opportunity to explore emerging technologies, including AI-driven business improvements, while helping shape the future of our technology environment.

You will be a proactive and technically skilled Solution Engineer who brings a strong foundation in IT and a desire to grow. You will be passionate about solving complex problems, eager to learn, and confident working across a broad set of technologies and platforms.


You will also have:

  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification

  • 1–3+ years’ post-qualification experience that includes software development, system implementation, and administration

  • Professional training and certifications in IT technical or architecture disciplines (desirable)

  • A valid driver’s licence

The salary range for this role is $81,600 to $96,000 and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
