Solutions Architect
About Reflex
Established in 2000 in South Africa, Reflex has evolved from modest origins to become a distinguished provider of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions. We specialise in delivering innovative ICT solutions across various industries, earning a sterling reputation for our excellence in the retail sector and beyond. With a robust network of partnerships, we pride ourselves on our ability to swiftly address the technological needs of our clients.
Our portfolio of ICT solutions spans various industries. Reflex Carrier understands what is needed to build, manage, and operate complex backbone networks simply. Our solutions are tailored for Fibre Network Operators (FNO), Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and those looking for comprehensive Managed Connectivity solutions.
On the other hand, our Enterprise Solutions take the complexity out of technology, allowing you to focus on what you do best. We provide seamless, high-performance solutions for connectivity, communications, workplace management, cloud, and cybersecurity services.
Together, both divisions reflect our core values of expertise, clarity, and client-centricity. We take pride in being large enough to offer extensive support while remaining small enough to provide personalised service. At Reflex, our clients are at the centre of everything we do, and we’re committed to delivering reliable, jargon-free solutions that drive your success.
About the role
The Solution Architect serves as the technical authority supporting the Sales and Client Success teams across all six of our solution areas. The role is responsible for translating client business requirements into practical, scalable technology solutions, producing solution designs, bills of materials, and detailed Scopes of Work that can be accurately quoted, successfully delivered by Projects, and effectively supported by Technical Services.
At the core of the role is a dual responsibility: providing trusted technical expertise throughout the sales and client lifecycle and ensuring that every Scope of Work handed to delivery teams is complete, accurate, commercially viable, and fully deliverable. Through this guidance, clients receive well-architected solutions while internal teams are equipped with the clarity needed to deliver successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Scope of Work and Solution Design
- Own the quality of the Scope of Work for the deals that need a Solution Architect: deliverables, sites, quantities, acceptance criteria, assumptions, exclusions, dependencies, client responsibilities and timeline.
- Make sure those deals are not quoted or signed without a complete, signed-off Scope of Work and design, using the Reflex Scope of Work template.
- Lead discovery with clients and Account Managers: requirements workshops, current-state reviews and site surveys.
- Produce the design pack: solution design, bill of materials and delivery approach.
- Cost the design with our product teams so the Account Manager can build an accurate, profitable quote.
- Review Scopes of Work prepared by others for smaller deals.
Technical Support Across our Solution Areas
- Be the technical point of reference for Account Managers, Client Success Managers and Fractional CIOs.
- Answer technical questions, confirm feasibility and join client meetings where technical depth is needed.
- Support renewals and growth with technical options such as upgrades, consolidation and end-of-life replacements
Tenders , Handover and Standards
- Write the technical response and scope for tenders and bids, and confirm technical compliance before submission.
- Hand the Scope of Work and design to Projects at signature, brief the project team and stay available to resolve scope questions during delivery.
- Learn from every scope- or design-related variation and improve our templates and reference designs.
- Keep vendor relationships and certifications current, and coach Account Managers on what to qualify.
How Success is measured
- Every deal that needs a Solution Architect has a complete, signed-off Scope of Work and design before it is quoted.
- Scopes of Work accepted by Projects at handover without being returned.
- Fewer scope- or design-related variation orders.
- Technical queries answered and designs turned around quickly.
- Win rate on designed deals, and delivered cost close to designed cost.
What you will bring
- Architecture breadth across networking, cloud, unified communications, security and workplace solutions
- Strong solution design and scope definition expertise
- Commercial awareness with the ability to design to cost and margin objectives
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both business and technical stakeholders
- Collaborative approach across Sales, Projects and Technical Services teams
