About the role

This role translates business, operational and technical requirements into practical end-to-end designs. Reporting to the Systems Architecture Manager, you will work within approved enterprise architecture and governance standards.

What you will be doing:

• Translating business and technical requirements into end-to-end designs for enterprise applications and supporting platforms
• Designing and reviewing on-premises, public cloud, hybrid and virtualised infrastructure, including compute, storage, backup and resilience
• Developing and reviewing LAN, WAN, wireless and cloud networking solutions, with secure connectivity between sites, cloud and vendors
• Building security by design and privacy by design into solutions
• Supporting cloud migration, hybrid connectivity and platform modernisation
• Contributing to backup, disaster recovery and operational readiness design
• Supporting implementation, migration, consolidation and upgrades, and lifecycle planning
• Producing current-state and target-state designs, diagrams, architecture decision records and as-built documentation
• Evaluating products, vendors and alternatives, and explaining recommendations and trade-offs clearly

The successful candidate will:

• Have at least 3 years' professional experience in solutions design, systems, infrastructure or network engineering or related architecture roles, with demonstrable responsibility for technical design
• Have practical experience designing, implementing or supporting on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments, with working knowledge of virtualisation, storage and backup
• Have experience with enterprise application dependencies and platform integrations
• Have a sound understanding of enterprise networking, firewalls, segmentation, remote access and cloud networking
• Be able to assess technical options and prepare clear designs, diagrams and documentation
• Have strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Hold a relevant qualification or certification, or have equivalent experience

Experience in a regulated industry (preferably healthcare, insurance or banking), a current cloud certification, hands-on virtualisation, SD-WAN, Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, infrastructure as code, and knowledge of Zero Trust and security frameworks are all highly desirable.
