Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Solutions Designer to lead and coordinate the design, development, enhancement, and implementation of complex, large-scale, high-profile, and high-risk technology solutions within a healthcare environment.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across the full solution lifecycle, working closely with architects, developers, business analysts, infrastructure teams, security architects, privacy SMEs, and operational stakeholders. This role requires strong expertise in modern cloud-native architecture, microservices, healthcare interoperability standards including FHIR, modern web technologies, CI/CD, Agile delivery, and secure solution design.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate the technical design, development, and enhancement of complex, large-scale, high-profile, and high-risk technology solutions.
  • Translate business requirements and functional specifications into scalable application and technical designs.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams on application software, hardware, network, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Design and support cloud-based technology solutions leveraging containerization, orchestration, and microservices architectures.
  • Develop and maintain solution architecture and detailed low-level design artifacts sufficient for development and testing teams.
  • Work collaboratively with enterprise and solution architects to ensure consistent object, data, interface, and application models.
  • Apply healthcare interoperability standards, particularly Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR), to solution design and integration.
  • Oversee the implementation of agreed-upon solutions, including design, development, testing, installation, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing enhancement.
  • Work with infrastructure, operational, deployment, and technical teams to define physical application deployment requirements.
  • Collaborate with security architects and privacy SMEs to ensure solutions meet security requirements and comply with data privacy standards.
  • Lead technical troubleshooting activities, identify areas for improvement, and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Conduct performance tuning and recommend improvements related to scalability, reliability, and system performance.
  • Support automated build and deployment processes through CI/CD pipelines.
  • Participate actively in Agile software development processes and utilize Azure DevOps/VSTS for development and delivery management.
  • Ensure adherence to GO-ITS standards, internal branch standards, architecture governance, and industry best practices.
  • Monitor project progress, identify and resolve technical issues, manage risks, and provide regular updates to business and I&IT management.
  • Develop and provide input into overall solution objectives and technical strategies.
  • Promote OPS I&IT standards and best practices for planning, design, development, and architecture governance.
  • Stay current with emerging technology trends and identify opportunities to improve client technology solutions.

Mandatory Skills and Experience
Technical Design & Architecture
  • Demonstrated experience as a Technical Design Specialist coordinating the design, development, and enhancement of complex, large-scale, high-profile, and high-risk technology solutions.
  • Experience utilizing cloud-based technologies, including:
    • Containerization
    • Orchestration
    • Microservices
  • Proven ability to lead development teams in defining and designing:
    • Application software requirements
    • Hardware requirements
    • Network requirements
  • Experience working with architects to establish consistent:
    • Object models
    • Data models
    • Interface models
    • Application models
  • Experience producing detailed low-level design and development artifacts that provide sufficient detail for developers to code and test solutions.
  • Knowledge of best practices for solution design, build, development, deployment, and implementation of functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Experience working with infrastructure, operations, deployment, and technical teams to define physical application deployment requirements.
Healthcare Interoperability
  • Working knowledge of healthcare data exchange standards, particularly Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR).
  • Experience designing or supporting solutions within healthcare environments is highly preferred.
Development Technologies

  • Knowledge of GO-ITS standards and OPS development and architecture practices.
  • Experience with modern cloud-native application architectures and enterprise-scale integrations.
