The Sonographer will perform diagnostic studies using provided equipment for medical diagnostic purposes. This role will balance patient interaction technological performance with a firm knowledge in anatomy and pathology while working cohesively with a healthcare team.

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct patient care

  • Demonstrates use of equipment to produce diagnostic studies.
  • Explains procedure to patients and answer questions.
  • Maintains cleanliness of scan room according to infection control guidelines.
  • Assists radiologist with procedures as required.
  • Performs Abd, Breast, Small parts, Venous and Echo if needed.
  • Reconciles study in pacs with paper work.
  • Demonstrates excellent patient care and communication skills.

Indirect

  • Maintains supplies.
  • Adapts to protocol changes.
  • Assists with department duties, phones, transport.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • One year post graduate experience
  • Experience with ABD, BREAST, OB/GYN, and VASCULAR sonography
  • AHA BLS certified

Preferred

  • Experience in Echosonography
  • ARDMS credential
  • ARRT US credential
  • Registered ACVP (Alliance of Cardiovascular Professionals)

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position is primarily worked in a clinical environment. The position will require the ability to lift, and carry, up to 50 pounds and push or pull over 50 pounds. The position will require bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, reaching overhead, sitting and standing frequently. Occasionally the position requires climbing, kneeling and crawling. The position requires continuous finger dexterity and fine manipulation. All basic life functions such as hearing, seeing, speaking, standing and walking are required.
