Job Title: Machine Operator – Sorting Machines

2. Job Summary

Sorting machine operators will operate mechanical or automated sorting equipment, ensure correct feeding and segregation of materials, perform basic troubleshooting, maintain production and process records, and strictly follow machine safety and housekeeping SOPs.

The role involves continuous monitoring of sorting operations to maintain process accuracy, efficiency, and quality standards. The operator will support production activities by ensuring smooth material flow, minimizing downtime, and maintaining operational discipline while adhering to safety and environmental requirements within the plant.

3. Key Responsibilities

Cycle operation and monitoring

• Operate mechanical or automated sorting machines as per defined production procedures.

• Monitor machine cycles, operational parameters, and sorting accuracy during operations.

• Ensure correct feeding of materials to maintain consistent output quality.

• Record production data and maintain process logs.

• Identify abnormalities or process deviations and report to supervisors.

Maintaining Purity, Safety and Efficiency

• Maintain material purity by ensuring proper segregation and sorting practices.

• Follow machine safety protocols, PPE usage, and operational SOPs at all times.

• Monitor equipment performance to maintain efficiency and reduce wastage.

• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental guidelines.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.

Equipment and Manpower Welfare

• Coordinate with team members and supervisors for smooth shift operations.

• Maintain safe working practices around machinery and plant areas.

• Assist in guiding or supporting new operators or trainees when required.

• Report unsafe conditions or operational risks immediately.

• Maintain disciplined and organized work practices.

Maintenance of equipment

• Conduct routine inspections of sorting machines and related equipment.

• Perform basic troubleshooting to resolve minor operational issues.

• Assist maintenance teams during repairs, servicing, or preventive maintenance activities.

• Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards around machines.

• Ensure proper shutdown and startup procedures are followed.

4. Required Qualifications

Education: Diploma/Graduation

Experience: 2–4 years

Technical Skills:

• Operation of mechanical and automated sorting machines.

• Material feeding and segregation control.

• Basic troubleshooting and equipment maintenance.

• Production record keeping and SOP compliance.

• Understanding of industrial safety practices preferred.

Soft Skills:

• Strong attention to detail.

• Safety-focused working attitude.

• Discipline in process monitoring.

• Teamwork and coordination with plant staff.

• Ability to work in shift-based industrial environments.
