Description

As a Sous Chef at Cambridge House, you will bring skill, curiosity and a generous spirit to the kitchen, taking pride in every detail while thriving in the rhythm of a busy service. Working closely with the Senior Sous Chef and wider culinary team, the role offers the opportunity to help bring the kitchen to life from its very first chapter, shaping the standards, and rhythm that define dining at Cambridge House while ensuring every service is precise and beautifully executed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Senior Sous Chef and wider culinary team with the smooth running of the kitchen, from preparation and mise en place through to service and close.

  • Oversee your section with confidence, ensuring every dish leaving the kitchen is beautifully presented, consistent and true to the House’s standards.

  • Work with exceptional seasonal produce, bringing care, precision and creativity to every plate.

  • Be a reassuring presence during service, keeping communication clear and standards high.

  • Support and develop kitchen team members through thoughtful guidance, knowledge-sharing and a hands-on approach.

  • Work closely with the wider House team to ensure the kitchen and dining experiences feel seamless from beginning to end.

  • Play an active role in the pre-opening journey, helping establish recipes, systems, standards and ways of working ahead of our first service.

  • Support ordering, stock control, portioning and food cost, balancing quality with thoughtful commercial awareness.

  • Maintain exceptional standards of food safety, hygiene, cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen.

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef or Junior Sous Chef within a luxury hotel, fine dining restaurant or high-quality culinary operation.

  • Genuine passion for exceptional produce, thoughtfully considered culinary techniques, and beautifully presented food.

  • The confidence to run a section and support a busy service with calmness and precision.

  • Excellent organisation, communication and time-management skills.

  • Previous pre-opening experience is desirable, but above all we are looking for curiosity, ambition and an appetite to create something special.

  • A professional, positive and personable approach, with the energy to contribute to a kitchen culture that is ambitious, welcoming and enjoyable.

  • Right to work in the UK.
