Spacecraft Avionics and Software Architect (m/f/d)

As a member of our Avionics & Software team in Munich, Germany you will own the spacecraft-level avionics & software domain: from architecture and make/buy choices, through proposal support and supplier management, to implementation leadership (flight software, mode/state machines, data handling, RF/TT&C).
You will work closely with our Systems Architects, as well as other domains to shape the future spacecraft.

Your role will include:
- Define platform avionics architecture: OBC, data handling buses (SpaceWire/CAN/100BASE‑T1), time sync (PPS/PTP/1588), mass memory, I/O, power interfaces, RTU strategy
- Own RF/TT&C chain high-level definition (transceiver/TTC units, antennas, link budgets, waveform/SDR choices, ground compatibility)
- Contribute to make/buy decisions on core platform level for OBC, SDR/TT&C, mass memory, DAQ/RTUs, including supplier trade studies, life-cycle & non-recurring impacts, and obsolescence risk
- Set flight software platform direction
- Define and implement mode/state machine architectures, from fluidic systems to orbital vehicles level
- Define interfaces with GNC (data products, timing/latency budgets, execution models) and RPOD logic
- Lead avionics/software sections in proposals: requirements, architecture diagrams, ICDs, work packages, effort & risk, schedule, partner scopes
- Contribute to MBSE models and ways of working
- Define model philosophies for spacecraft platforms
- Support integration and verification activities on subsystem and system level

- Support with other relevant ad-hoc activities.
- 2+ years in spacecraft avionics and software engineering
- Knowledge of avionics elements, RF/TT&C integration, flight SW
- Experience of verification including SiL and HiL
- Basic knowledge of Systems Engineering practices including Requirements Engineering, ICDs; ECSS
- Passion for creating a new spaceflight paradigm (space logistics & orbital refuelling)
- Strong analytical and communication skills
