Special Agent
Cases may involve contract fraud, employee misconduct, healthcare fraud, environmental crime, theft of government property, unauthorized computer access, and workers' compensation fraud. Investigations are conducted in accordance with the CIGIE Quality Standards for Investigations and applicable U.S. Attorney General Guidelines. Candidates with 1811 Criminal Investigator status are able to maintain their 1811 designation.
WHAT YOU'LL DO All Special Agents are responsible for the following core duties. The scope, complexity, and independence expected at each level increases with experience: Initiating and conducting investigations - developing and following leads, conducting surveillance, performing interviews, collecting and organizing data, and preparing written reports and other investigative documents. Building and maintaining relationships with TVA employees and developing contacts within federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Attending and participating in meetings with U.S. Attorneys, TVA management, and other external stakeholders as they relate to assigned cases. Drafting clear, concise investigative reports that reconstruct events, establish relationships, responsibilities, legal liabilities, and conflicts. Participating in and/or leading interagency task forces, lending investigative and subject matter expertise. Drafting and submitting subpoenas, applying for warrants, and making arrests in the exercise of law enforcement authority. Preparing case documentation for trial, coordinating with prosecutors, and serving as a witness and technical expert in court proceedings. Conducting fraud risk assessments and delivering fraud awareness briefings to TVA employees. Building and executing proactive communication strategies to develop leads and contacts in areas of risk for TVA.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required. U.S. citizenship required. Must pass a federal background investigation and maintain a top-secret clearance. Must qualify and maintain authorization to carry firearms/weapons. Must successfully complete a regularly scheduled physical examination and maintain fitness levels required for the position. Must participate in a random drug screening process. Valid driver's license required. Regular business travel and overnight travel required.
