Special Education Teacher

LOCATION: Keshet Therapeutic Day School / Northbrook and Skokie, IL

SUPERVISOR: Director of Education

WAGES: $60,000 – $70,000 Annual

JOB STATUS: Full-time / 12-month Contract / Salary / Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: Licensed teachers work with students in our self-contained special education classroom. The teacher will focus on student education and engagement with academic, nonacademic, social, health, behavioral and emotional needs of the students in the special education and general community environments.

The teacher will provide supported instruction and strategies to Para-educators and individual students, small groups of students as well as monitor students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• All case management

• Development, implementation, and monitoring of IEPs, Behavior Plans, student assessments and data collection and analysis

• Development, implementation, and monitoring of instructional, behavioral, daily living, personal care, independent living goals, and designing active community-based instruction

• Partners with related service personnel to meet the IEP needs of students

• Classroom staff management

• Site management

• Multidisciplinary collaboration

• Transition planning and experience with transition programming preferred

• Job responsibilities may include lifting and physical management

• Driving is required to access the community
