Special Procedure Technologist (28037)
Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) has an opportunity for a Special Procedure Technologist at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem. Under the direction/supervision of a Radiologist, Technical Supervisor, or Lead Technologist performs radiographic procedures to include CT, angiography, and routine diagnostic procedures on patients whose condition requires specialized expertise at a technical level, not requiring supervision of technical detail, but will require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation according to ALARA principles (As Low As Reasonably Achievable).
This position will support the vision, mission, and value statements of NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem by providing for interdisciplinary cooperation in the provision of timely/courteous service to our customers, reduction in turn-around-time, and for the compassionate care and treatment of each patient.
Opportunity Details:
- Perform radiologic procedures by selecting the proper technical factors and performing the appropriate quality control for optimal diagnostic imaging.
- Ensure the appropriate collimation and shielding using good judgment in radiation safety factors.
- Greets patient introducing his/herself and confirm patient identity.
- Consult with radiologist or other physicians as necessary to determine appropriateness of requested study.
- Review request with Radiologist or Resident when necessary to obtain special instructions/protocol.
- Ensure patient readiness for procedure, completion of consent (as necessary) prior to the procedure, and education of patient to the study to be performed.
- Schedule: 4:00p.m. - 12:00a.m. and required to rotate on weekends.
