ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Finance team in Athens. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on cash flow, customer relationships, and the overall effectiveness of our accounts receivable function.

You will work in an international, cross-functional environment where ownership, collaboration, and practical problem-solving are essential to success.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to resolve payment and billing disputes promptly, keeping ownership of open items until they are resolved or appropriately escalated.
  • Issue accurate and timely customer invoices, including recurring and subscription billing across multiple currencies and legal entities; where required, submit invoices through customer AP portals, address rejections, and resubmit corrected invoices.
  • Prepare, process, and track credit memos, rebilling, and billing adjustments, including changes resulting from contract amendments or other mid-term updates.
  • Own the collections process for an assigned portfolio: monitor aging and overdue invoices, follow up on payment commitments, manage collection notes and escalations, and prioritize actions based on customer risk, value, and business context.
  • Reconcile customer and AR accounts by tracing invoices, payments, credit memos, cash applications, unapplied amounts, and open items across systems to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Navigate NetSuite, Salesforce, ZoneBilling/the billing platform, and customer portals to investigate issues independently; partner with Finance Systems and IT to correct data problems and reduce recurring manual work.
  • Collaborate closely with Commercial Operations, Sales, Legal, Project Management, Revenue Accounting, and other Finance teams to resolve customer, contract, billing, and collection issues.
  • Prepare AR aging, collections status, DSO, dispute, and other analyses that go beyond standard system output; support month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations and follow-up on aged or unusual balances.
  • Support audit requests by providing complete, well-organized documentation and a clear transaction trail.
  • Document AR procedures and controls, identify recurring root causes and process gaps, and recommend practical improvements, standardization, and automation.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

You enjoy working in a purpose-driven organization and thrive in a fast-changing environment where initiative, judgment, and follow-through matter. You are comfortable managing competing priorities, digging into details when needed, and working constructively across teams to solve problems.

We are looking for someone with the following background and capabilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in Accounts Receivable, collections, billing, order-to-cash, or a similar finance role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing customer collections, payment commitments, billing questions, and disputes with sound business judgment and professional follow-through.
  • Experience with an ERP and/or billing system. Familiarity with Salesforce, Netsuite and subscription-billing platforms is an advantage, not a requirement.
  • Hands-on and systems-curious: comfortable learning new tools, searching across systems, and investigating data directly to find answers.
  • Strong working knowledge of AR accounting, reconciliations, cash application, GL interfaces, and month-end close; familiarity with subscription/SaaS billing and revenue-recognition concepts is an advantage.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to analyze and reconcile large datasets using lookups, pivot tables, filters, and other practical data tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the confidence to work with customers and colleagues across functions, cultures, and time zones.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple open items and deadlines without losing follow-through.
  • Curious, solution-oriented, and proactive.
