The Alcohol Category Specialist role supports the Core Merch Team (Alcohol) as a category expert and will handle vendor relations, case pack sourcing, contract documentation (under the buyer’s guidance), legal standards by state, manage category-specific initiative execution.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Alcohol Category Specialist will be responsible and accountable to make recommendations on all Alcohol pricing each month by state based on impact to Sales, Margin and Inventory results.
- Have extensive knowledge of all legal compliance requirements by state (including pricing, contracts and regulations) by state and monitoring execution across footprint.
- Identify and resolve issues and concerns on product availability and item set up with vendors and stores.
- Determining appropriate case pack allocations by store based on Vendor and Distributor availability.
- Will be point of contact to Vendors, Distributors and for all Wine Stewards, coordinating and facilitating in store execution and events.
- Support the buyer in Category Management process by compiling data to deliver reportable solutions.
- Exception Reporting for Accuracy for Item Set up on/maintenance.
- Ensuring the Meijer Systems are accurate and align to advertised pricing.

What You Bring With You (Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s preferred
- 1 -2 years of previous merchandising or retail experience preferred.
- Project Management Skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with attention to detail and time Management.
- Ability to gather and interpret data for various reports, as appropriate.
- Knowledge of the retail industry; understanding of specific category product lines and core customer behavior.
- Results focused; uses performance targets and goals to drive own activities as well as help team succeed.
- Office computer skills; able to learn company systems and tools.
- Excel intermediate level.
