Role Overview
This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate financial reporting and supporting the organization's accounting operations in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP). The position is responsible for managing month-end close activities, preparing financial statements, performing account reconciliations, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with US GAAP, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close & Reporting
- Assist with monthly close activities, ensuring all entries are accurate, timely, and compliant with US GAAP
- Prepare finalized financial statements and save them in designated reporting folders
- Perform monthly variance analysis against budget and prior periods, identifying accrual requirements
- Support the preparation of reporting packages and schedules for leadership review
Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Prepare and maintain monthly reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts
- Ensure reconciliations tie to the general ledger and financial statements
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly
Journal Entries & Accruals
- Prepare and post recurring monthly journal entries (payroll, credit cards, banking, etc.)
- Record revenue, expense, and margin accruals in accordance with US GAAP
- Maintain complete and accurate supporting documentation for all journal entries
Intercompany Transactions
- Reconcile intercompany balances and support elimination entries
- Prepare intercompany billing invoices for shared services and allocations
- Ensure intercompany transactions are accurately reflected in financial statements
Fixed Asset Management
- Maintain fixed asset schedules, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation
- Post monthly depreciation and reconcile balances to the general ledger
Audit Support
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for interim and year-end audits
- Respond to audit requests accurately and within established timelines
- Coordinate with leadership and external auditors to resolve outstanding audit items
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Mandatory experience working with US GAAP in a professional accounting environment
- Strong understanding of month-end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting
- Experience preparing financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
- High attention to detail with excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics
