Specialist Maintenance Engineer

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Maintenance Engineer to join our cross-functional team, collaborating closely with AI/ML Engineers, Process and Maintenance Engineers, Product Managers, and Software Leaders to co-create cutting-edge digital solutions for asset-intensive industries.

This role will focus on improving reliability, asset performance, process optimization, and risk management through advanced engineering practices and data-driven insights. You will act as a technical reference, driving innovation and helping shape the future of digital industrial solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a technical mentor and facilitator for the engineering team, leading technical analyses, FMEA studies, and prioritizing opportunities aligned with SHAPE’s strategic roadmap.
• Conduct feasibility studies, scout for innovations, and assess economic and technical viability to support investment decisions.
• Develop and optimize industrial processes to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with quality standards.
• Apply deep equipment engineering knowledge—desirable on rotating equipment—covering dynamic and thermodynamic behavior, control systems, monitoring, diagnostics, and operations, to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and cost reduction.
• Define technical requirements and guide the development of new algorithms and models focused on performance monitoring, failure prediction, anomaly detection, energy efficiency, and emissions reduction.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement data strategies that enhance decision-making and process effectiveness.
• Take an active role in solving complex technical challenges, providing innovative, high-quality solutions that support project goals.
• Contribute consistently to the development of SHAPE’s digital products, ensuring end-user value by detailing and prioritizing features and user stories for implementation.
• Support technical and commercial proposal development for new projects.

Technical Knowledge & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related disciplines), with a strong foundation in engineering principles and industrial practices.
• Solid experience in the industry or similar environment, with proven knowledge of predictive maintenance, asset diagnostics, and industrial operations.
• In-depth understanding of rotating machinery, sensor systems, performance monitoring, protection schemes, failure modes, and equipment specifications.
• Hands-on experience with PI AF (Asset Framework) for data analysis and building predictive models.
• Strong background in asset integrity and performance management, APM (Asset Performance Management) and ability to facilitate studies such as HAZOP, HAZID, RCA, FMEA, and RCM.
• Knowledge of industrial process operation and control, enabling analysis across multiple interconnected systems.
• Basic understanding of industrial automation, DCS, protection systems, and condition monitoring tools.
• Familiarity with data acquisition systems, vibration analysis tools, PIMS, and OPC servers.
• Working knowledge of data analysis, machine learning algorithms, and digital software architecture.
• Experience with agile methodologies, continuous improvement tools, and process optimization frameworks.
