Job purpose

Study and identify improvement opportunities and provide subject matter expertise to ensure the coherence and optimisation of all activities related to operations excellence. Design and implement changes to processes that improve results, reduce cost, and eliminate waste. Deliver process innovation and continuous improvement initiatives whilst addressing all process deficiencies through re-engineering interventions and corrective action plans.

Develop and implement all technical training related to operations including the receipt, storage, handling, and delivery of aviation products, use of related equipment, safety and fire prevention, driving of fuelling vehicles, and quality control.

Operational excellence

  • Lead the provision of awareness sessions on the role of operations excellence and the implemented internal controls, policies, and procedures to operations employees and partners.
  • Lead the identification and setting of standards of operational excellence in order to maximise the safe and reliable performance of company assets.
  • Lead the assessment of operations performance against standards set in order to provide confidence on the status of operations.
  • Present business process optimization opportunities and underlying operations improvement business case to the operations group management and executives.
  • Continuously leverage the expertise and resources of the impacted areas to support and implement the initiatives.
  • Identify and communicate obstacles and challenges encountered throughout the project, and opportunities for improving or accelerating the process.
  • Manage change through communication, documentation, and training to ensure stakeholder involvement and buy-in.
  • Ensure reviewing corrective action plans developed by operations process re-engineering and process owners and ensure its implementation by concerned parties.
  • Identify continuous improvement activities to produce bottom line risk and savings to support the overall operational excellence program.
  • Execute improvement activities to promote organizational changes and facilitate the culture of operational excellence in delivering the goals through cross-functional collaboration.
  • Lead and facilitate lean/process improvement-based workshops to drive ideas and solutions.
  • Coordinate with sites and various divisions for operational excellence and sites communications and to prepare for audits.
  • Work with key business stakeholders to build a continuous improvement environment to support driving of operational excellence across the organization.
  • Support the delivery of better value and greater efficiency through the identification and elimination of unnecessary complexity within business processes and identification of better ways of working.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a best-in-class continuous improvement strategy.
  • Participate in developing, implementing, and executing the operational excellence program. Identify key opportunities and gaps in the core business and operational processes and identify improvement plans.
  • Lead the development of value stream mapping to measure current performance and establish future state targets to eliminate waste, improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and inventory.
  • Own the timely delivery of initiatives and regularly report to leadership team and the site with status of schedules and achievement of intended objectives.

Technical training

  • Develop, plan, and coordinate all technical and on-the-field trainings and competencies development in line with regulatory authority requirements.
  • Ensure competence assurance and compliance with relevant standards such as ISO, JIG, EI 1530, and relevant health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Carry out mentoring and coaching and provide subject matter expertise to ensure effective problem resolution.
  • Define training needs in consultation with the operations VP, managers, and the talent development team of human resources in line with authorities' regulations for all staff specific to their job profiles and competency matrix.
  • Ensure that employees are qualified and certified to perform required functions by assessing their knowledge and skills using theoretical and practical assessment methods.
  • Prepare and maintain competency and drivers’ certificates for all staff. Organise refresher training as needed. Report the progress of company trainees to management.
  • Coordinate with health, safety, security, and environment departments for site-specific safety trainings like risk management, confined space, etc.
  • Provide technical knowledge and training in new or existing lean methods including development of highly effective visual management processes, creating workflows designed to meet business objectives, and ensuring adherence to standard work.
  • Serve as an educational resource for management by keeping them informed on legislation, trends, and other issues in operations excellence.
  • Oversee the delivery of operations group internal technical trainings and ensure they are performed as per the approved annual training plan.
  • Deliver external and cross-functional trainings as requested.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • At least 8 years of experience in a continuous improvement role, preferably in the oil and gas retail industry.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP and/or Lean Six Sigma Black Belt are preferred.
  • Willingness to work 50% outdoors.
