Position Overview
This role supports a busy Primary Care Residency Clinic with approximately 70 providers at various stages of training and development. The clinic serves up to 200–220 patients per day, requiring a highly organized, customer-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
As a Registration Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for patients and play a critical role in ensuring smooth patient flow, accurate registration, and optimal clinical and financial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Check in patients and facilitate patient flow from entry to destination in a timely, accurate, and professional manner
Verify and update insurance, demographic, and financial information
Manage medical records, scanning forms, referrals, DME, and Luma-related tasks
Enter and validate charges in appropriate systems and collect required payments
Schedule appointments and interview patients to obtain necessary medical information
Explain departmental and hospital charges, policies, and procedures
Answer incoming calls and direct patients and visitors appropriately
Support high-volume clinic operations (up to 220 patients per day)
Collaborate closely with providers and staff in a team-based environment
Skills for Success
Experience with Cerner (preferred)
Prior medical or healthcare experience strongly preferred
Knowledge of insurance verification and coverage interpretation
Strong computer skills; ability to quickly learn new systems
Willingness to learn, adapt, and assist where needed
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills
Education & Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Relevant experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Ability to learn and retain medical coding concept
ICD-10 and CPT knowledge preferred
Familiarity with medical terminology and clinical workflows preferred
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Onboarding & Training
Onboarding will include a combination of virtual training classes and hands-on, on-the-job training
