As a Senior Lead Technician I am privileged to manage and support our fantastic technical team of Pharmacy Technicians, Assistants and Practitioners as we provide support services to clinical trial research teams on all our Trust sites throughout Oxfordshire.
The Clinical Trials Pharmacy consists of Pharmacists, Technicians, Assistants and Practitioners. We work closely with research teams across the trust and external representatives.

Main duties of the jobAs a Specialist Senior Clinical Trials Pharmacy Technician in our team, you will have an extremely varied role.
You will act as the Lead Technician for individual clinical trials, being the main point of contact for the clinical trials once open to recruitment. You will be involved in maintaining the supply chain of Clinical Trial medications to research nurses who deliver treatment to patients, maintaining financial records, processing trial modifications, completing drug accountability activities, closing down and archiving of completed studies, as well as facilitating meetings from sponsors. You will also directly line manage staff within the team, deliver training and assign daily duties using rotas.
A successful candidate should be:
- Qualified Pharmacy Technician holding a BTEC Level 3 Certificate in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff
- Accredited Checking Technician (ACT)
- Currently registered with GPhC

Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesCore Role - Clinical Trials-
Set up trial specific study files with all necessary essential documentation, in preparation for pharmacy sign off.

Attend multidisciplinary team meetings with investigators to initiate, manage and close down trials hence ensuring pharmacy participation.

To ensure effective operation and day to day running of active Clinical Trials within the OUH to ensure regulatory compliance and management of supplies to ensure suitable treatment is available for patients participating in a trial.

To ensure the Clinical Trials Pharmacy Team (CTPT) and its staff operate to standards of excellence in customer care and with a strong patient focus.
