Are you passionate about food, hospitality, and sharing the joy of cooking with others? Spicewalla is a chef-driven spice company based out of Asheville NC, known for fresh, small-batch spices and gifts, and an ever-changing treasure trove of pantry staples and snacks. We are excited to open a new retail location in Historic Georgetown. We will be joining our Chai Pani Restaurant Group sister restaurants: Chai Pani DC and upcoming Botiwalla, in the neighborhood. We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, Retail Sales Associate to join our new team in DC. The Retail Sales Associate will play a key role in sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for Spicewalla products, ringing up customer sales, and keeping the store organized, stocked and clean.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Welcome and engage with customers during their shopping experience

• Ask questions about customer needs and offer personalized product recommendations and recipe suggestions

• Curious and excited to continually expand their knowledge of spices, products and recipes

• Inform customers about upcoming and active sales and promotions, and invite them to visit us online (social media, website, newsletters)

• Use up-selling and suggestive selling techniques to drive sales and customer satisfaction

• Use Shopify POS to process in-store and online (in-store pick-up) orders

• Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including stocking shelves, organizing product, unpacking & pricing merchandise and overall appearance of the store during the day and at opening and closing.

Skills and Qualifications

• 1+ year of retail sales experience

• Strong communication skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor

• Familiarity with Shopify POS or similar point-of-sale systems is a plus

• Comprehensive understanding of products in store & willingness to learn

• Basic math skills

• Strong level of professionalism at work

• Ability to work weekends and holidays.

• Attention to detail for following company policies and inventory management systems

• Retail merchandising experience is a plus!
