Spooling Inspector
The Spooling Inspector is in charge of checking all cable used in production to determine defects that may affect quality of the final product.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspects and tests coated or uncoated wire and cable for such properties as electrical resistance, size, and tactile inspection to verify their conformance to specifications.
- Reads written specifications or receives oral instructions and determines work aids required and inspection procedures.
- Measures wire/cable for size, and defects using micrometers and fixed gauges.
- Examines wire for defects, such as pits, scratches, and burnt surfaces.
- Records test results and informs supervisor when wire varies from specifications.
- Respools cables according to customers specification and perform final inspections of spools.
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
