SQE
Supplier Qualification & Audit
- Conduct supplier quality audits (onsite & remote) for new and existing vendors (steel mills, fabricators, welders, NDE labs, coating suppliers, equipment manufacturers).
- Evaluate supplier QMS (ISO 9001), process capability, welding/NDE competence, inspection capacity, and compliance with offshore/marine standards (DNV, ABS, API, AWS).
- Approve, classify, and maintain the approved vendor list (AVL) with risk grading and performance tracking.
Quality Planning & Project Support
- Review and approve supplier Quality Plans, ITP (Inspection & Test Plan), FAT/SAT procedures for offshore equipment, steel structures, piping, and welding works.
- Witness critical inspections: FAT, SAT, NDE (RT/UT/MT/PT), welding inspection, dimensional check, coating thickness at supplier yards.
- Ensure compliance with project specs, drawing requirements, and classification society rules.
Incoming Quality & Non-Conformance Management
- Monitor incoming material quality (IQC); handle non-conformances (NCRs), reject notes, and quarantine of non-compliant parts.
- Drive 8D, root cause analysis (RCA), CAPA with suppliers for recurring quality issues (e.g., welding defects, material non-conformance, coating failure).
- Verify closure and effectiveness of corrective actions; track COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) and ensure cost recovery when applicable.
Supplier Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Establish and track supplier quality KPIs: PPM, on-time delivery, NCR rate, audit pass rate, CAPA closure rate.
- Conduct quarterly/annual supplier performance reviews (SPR); drive improvement actions and escalate chronic underperformance.
- Lead supplier development: enhance process control, reduce variation, and upgrade quality capability for critical offshore materials/components.
Documentation, Reporting & Stakeholder Alignment
- Maintain accurate supplier quality records: audit reports, ITP approvals, inspection logs, NCR/8D files, and performance dashboards.
- Prepare weekly/monthly SQE reports for project and management teams; highlight risks, issues, and improvement progress.
- Collaborate closely with procurement, project engineering, site QA/QC, and clients/third-party inspectors (TPI) to align quality expectations.
