Summary
Experienced SQL Server DBA role managing and optimizing critical Microsoft SQL Server production databases integrated with Azure: administering Always On AGs/FCIs, resolving incidents, tuning T-SQL performance, and running releases via Azure DevOps and UrbanCode Deploy. Hybrid, based in Portugal (Lisbon preferred).
We're looking for an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator to support and optimize critical database environments integrated with Microsoft Azure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain Microsoft SQL Server production databases.
- Administer Always On Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances.
- Investigate and resolve database incidents, performing root cause analysis.
- Execute production releases using Azure DevOps and UrbanCode Deploy.
- Optimize database performance through query tuning and T-SQL improvements.
- Manage Azure SQL and related Azure services.
- Ensure database security, permissions management, and documentation.
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and operations teams.
- Drive continuous improvement of database processes and operations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration.
- Strong experience in production support, incident management, and performance tuning.
- Solid experience with Microsoft Azure.
Technical Skills
- SQL Server Administration and T-SQL (mandatory)
- PowerShell (mandatory)
- Azure SQL, Azure DevOps, Azure, Pipelines, Azure Monitor and Azure Event Hub (mandatory)
- Failover Cluster Instances (FCI)
- PostgreSQL
- UrbanCode Deploy (UCD)
- Azure Database Administrator certification
Profile
- Fluent English (C1).
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of production environments.
- Experience working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience in regulated environments is a plus.
Location
- Based in Portugal, preferably Lisbon area.
- Hybrid working model.
