SQL Database Administrator (DBA) - 12 Month+ Contract
Melbourne preferred | Flexible location | Financial Services | Immediate Start | 12 months+
We are looking for an experienced SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join a major financial services client as part of their Application Support Managed Services team.
This is a long-term contract opportunity (12 months+), ideally Melbourne-based, although we're flexible to consider strong candidates in other Australian locations.
The Role
You'll be supporting business-critical SQL Server environments, with a strong focus on production support, database performance, deployments, patching, security and disaster recovery.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Strong hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA, ideally supporting large-scale, business-critical production environments.
  • Experience with SQL Server patching, upgrades, database failover and failback.
  • Strong capability across incident triage, troubleshooting and database performance investigation/tuning.
  • Experience supporting production deployments, application releases and after-hours changes.
  • Strong understanding of Disaster Recovery (DR) processes, testing and production support.
  • Experience with user-access provisioning, SQL account management and password rotation.
  • Hands-on experience with database and environment refreshes.
  • Knowledge of certificate management, encryption and key rotation.
  • Experience with database monitoring, compliance reporting and vulnerability remediation.
  • Exposure to database tooling such as Delphix, Redgate, SQL Monitor, DDM and Erwin, including administration and upgrades.
  • Comfortable working within structured production support / managed services environments.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with engineering, application and business teams.
Support Requirements
The role will provide business-hours coverage across early and late shifts, alongside participation in a 24x7 on-call roster. Time in lieu will be provided for applicable after-hours support.
