SQL DBA Engineer
Project description
You will take full operational and architectural ownership of the enterprise Azure estate representing the mission-critical GNLA/RESQ application. This role sits at the intersection of high-level infrastructure design, daily cloud operations, FinOps governance, and cross-team project execution.
Responsibilities
- Estate Ownership & Operations: Manage, scale, schedule, and monitor the complete GNLA/RESQ Azure cloud environment. Infrastructure Lifecycle & Automation: Frequently provision new infrastructure and decommission legacy environments utilizing Azure DevOps and Bicep. DC Footprint Reduction: Lead strategies to optimize hybrid topologies and actively reduce local data center footprints. Change Analysis & Design: Perform deep system design analysis, software integration design, and infrastructure change impact assessments prior to deployment. Security & Compliance: Oversee enterprise cloud security posture. Manage user profiles, enforce RBAC, execute security assignments, and audit compliance across environments. Project Leadership & Syncs: Act as the Senior Infrastructure PM and primary point of contact in daily syncs with application teams, managing and delegating technical requests. FinOps & Analytics: Track cloud budget metrics, generate cost management reports on demand, and benchmark system performance.
SKILLS
Must have
- Cloud Architecture & Design (Expert Level): 10+ years of deep infrastructure design spanning Azure, AWS, and Private Cloud environments. Azure DevOps & Bicep (Mid-Level): Hands-on experience building CI/CD pipelines and writing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) specifically using Azure Bicep. Networking, Security & Storage (Senior Level): Advanced design of hybrid topologies (ExpressRoute, VPNs, Hub-and-Spoke), Azure Security (RBAC, Zero Trust, Key Vault, NSGs, Defender), and Cloud Storage engineering. Operating Systems (Senior Level): Strong administration and troubleshooting across UNIX, Linux, and Windows platforms. Project & Change Management (Senior Level): Proven capability in system design analysis, evaluating infrastructure change impacts, and leading cross-functional infrastructure projects.
Nice to have
AWS Infrastructure: Mid-level cloud experience. Database Foundations: Senior-level structural understanding of database engines (Oracle, MS-SQL, SQL Server DB technology) to support hosting requirements. Data Integration: Mid-level familiarity with ETL tools operating within cloud pipelines.
