Sr Accounting Specialist (hourly)

The Senior Accounting Specialist is a non-exempt, hourly individual contributor role within the Accounting Department. This position provides hands-on support for core accounting operations, including general ledger activity, account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close tasks, tax preparation, and billing support. The Senior Accounting Specialist works within established processes and accounting standards to help maintain the accuracy and integrity of AACSB's financial records, with a focus on execution, documentation, and attention to detail. This role contributes to revenue accounting support and financial reporting preparation as directed and operates as part of a collaborative accounting team. This role reports directly to the Manager of Accounting. This role does not carry supervisory authority or final approval authority.

How you will contribute:

• · Prepare and record journal entries, accruals, deferrals, and reclassifications; review GL activity for accuracy and proper coding.

  · Complete account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and assist with month-end close, financial reporting, and annual audit activities.

  · Prepare assigned revenue schedules and deferred revenue entries under established recognition policies.

  · Monitor prepaid expenses and maintain assigned fixed asset schedules.

  · Review cash activity, process ACH and wire transactions, and support bank, merchant, and corporate card reconciliations and administration under dual-approval workflow.

  · Maintain accounting procedures and documentation while serving as a resource on accounting processes and best practices.

  · Assist with the completion and administration of tax documentation and tax filings (1099, W8, W9, 990, FBAR)

  · Assist with system testing and data validation during implementations; identify process improvement opportunities to the Manager of Accounting.

  · Support resolution of member billing discrepancies and coordinate with the billing team as needed.

  · Perform duties in accordance with AACSB International’s Mission and Values.

• At least three (3) years’ experience in accounting, with demonstrated competency with account reconciliations and journal entries and experience with general ledger accounting and month-end close.

  · Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP

  · Demonstrated proficiency in MS 365 (Excel – intermediate to advanced competency, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

  · Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  · Strong analytical and organizational skills.

  · Ability to work independently, maintain accuracy, and meet deadlines.

  · Fluency in the English language.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  · Five (5) or more years’ experience in accounting

  · Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  · Experience with Sage Intacct or similar ERP system

  · Experience with nonprofit accounting

  · Experience supporting external audits
