What you'll be doing…

The Verizon Global Payroll team strives for the highest degree of accurate, timely, and compliant pay to our employees. Operating under general guidance to achieve short- to medium-term departmental objectives, the Senior Analyst - Payroll (Balancing and Funding) plays a critical part in this mission by driving balancing, funding, offline processing, and communications support to ensure operational excellence and cross-team redundancy. Timely processing is critical in this role, and you will be expected to adhere strictly to operational deadlines.

  • Balancing, Funding & Payments: Execute Balancing and Funding processes according to SLAs (Taxes, Garnishments, Deductions, Operating Invoices). Process manual and ad-hoc payments related to Payroll operations, and collaborate closely with our check print team.
  • Vendor & Account Management: Stay on top of communications and invoices received to ensure payments are made timely and account balances remain appropriate. Communicate effectively with external vendors to answer questions, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Compliance & Audit: Maintain robust, centralized documentation, fulfill Sarbanes-Oxley audit requests, and cross-train personnel to maintain proficiency.
  • Offline Team Backup: Backup the Payroll Offline Team to ensure timely processing of Email Inboxes, Workday Help Queues, and Online Faxes.
  • Communications Support: Provide backup for domestic and international communications, create team newsletters, and run monthly SOP/DTP reports.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Drive continuous improvement by identifying automation opportunities across all supported payroll processes.

What we’re looking for…

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience required , demonstrated through work and/or military experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite, combined with strong organizational, critical thinking, and time management skills to handle large volumes and strict deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate empathetically across all organizational levels, show flexibility, and adapt to change.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Finance, Human Resources, Business, Technology)
  • Relevant professional certifications (Finance, Payroll, Audit) and hands-on experience with PeopleSoft HCM, Workday, or data analysis and reporting dashboards.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local payroll taxes, policies, and procedures, along with experience auditing financial transactions or handling collections.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build cross-departmental relationships within a complex organization.

Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
