The role combines hands-on technical leadership with opportunities to innovate in agentic AI systems and next-generation security technologies. You will influence architectural decisions, establish engineering best practices, and mentor fellow engineers while improving operational efficiency at scale. This remote opportunity is ideal for a technically experienced professional passionate about automation, continuous improvement, and protecting organizations against evolving cyber threats.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the end-to-end design, development, and implementation of automation features and product enhancements that strengthen managed detection and response capabilities.
- Architect and build deterministic and agentic automation pipelines that integrate software services, scripting, orchestration, and security data enrichment across multiple tools and platforms.
- Analyze complex cybersecurity challenges and develop scalable, enterprise-grade automation solutions that accelerate threat triage, investigation, and remediation.
- Collaborate closely with security analysts, engineering teams, business stakeholders, and technical partners to gather feedback, identify operational needs, and deliver effective automation products.
- Develop reliable, high-performance web services and data pipelines designed to support growing operational demands and evolving security requirements.
- Improve service resilience, monitoring, and observability by identifying potential issues proactively and implementing solutions that enhance system reliability and quality.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support the continuous availability and operational performance of critical security systems.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers through code reviews, architectural guidance, technical interviews, and the promotion of engineering standards and best practices.
- Identify opportunities to reduce repetitive work and operational overhead through automation, AI integration, and workflow optimization.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and apply AI-driven approaches to improve decision-making, engineering productivity, and security operations.
- Contribute to a collaborative, asynchronous engineering culture by sharing knowledge, communicating effectively, and supporting continuous learning and innovation.
Requirements:
- 6–10 years of relevant experience in automation engineering, software development, scripting, cybersecurity, or a related technical field, with demonstrated growth in technical complexity and leadership responsibilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience and relevant industry certifications may be accepted in place of a degree.
- Professional programming experience in at least one of the following languages: Go (Golang), Python, JavaScript, C++, or Java, with a willingness to work with Go and JavaScript.
- Foundational knowledge of large language models (LLMs), agentic development systems, and practical applications of AI in engineering or cybersecurity workflows.
- Demonstrated experience building enterprise-grade web services, scalable data pipelines, or other production systems with strong reliability and performance requirements.
- Hands-on experience with version control systems such as Git and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Operational knowledge of cloud technologies, databases such as PostgreSQL, messaging systems such as Kafka, Docker, and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Proven technical leadership and mentoring abilities, supported by strong written and verbal communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, globally distributed, and highly asynchronous environment while managing competing priorities and maintaining high-quality delivery.
- Demonstrated experience using AI technologies to improve decision-making, streamline processes, increase efficiency, and achieve measurable business outcomes.
- A collaborative mindset, intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning, engineering excellence, and customer success.
The following qualifications are considered an asset:
- Experience developing user interfaces and building services within microservices architectures.
- Expertise in high-level system design and the architecture of distributed, scalable systems.
- Cybersecurity experience with Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) platforms, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools, endpoint security solutions, or security-focused product development.
- Familiarity with Unix systems, PowerShell, and associated scripting or administration tools.
- Experience in data science, agentic AI training, or the development of non-deterministic AI systems.
- Knowledge of prompt engineering, context engineering, and techniques for optimizing AI-powered workflows.
- Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Familiarity with cloud observability and monitoring tools.
- A proactive approach to improving team productivity through automation, with a strong commitment to reliability, quality, and technical growth.
