About the role
You join the team as a hands-on Senior Backend Engineer, working alongside a Tech Lead, backend engineers, frontend engineers, and QA. You own technical decisions within your scope and collaborate with the Tech Lead and other engineers on cross-service architecture and integration. Our shared services support multiple products in areas such as identity, authentication, authorization, and entitlement.
Key responsibilities
Design, implement, test, and deliver backend capabilities in Go
Identify dependencies and raise delivery risks early
Clarify business rules with Product Owners, explain technical risks, and propose practical alternatives
Design shared services that accommodate different product rules
Agree API contracts, compatibility, and migration plans with consuming teams
Protect data and access correctness through sound database design, permission checks, transactions, and reliable asynchronous processing
Work with DevOps on deployment, diagnostics, and recovery
Improve owned services based on observed reliability and performance needs
Help colleagues contribute through code reviews, pairing, and documented decisions
Write code and tests that others can maintain
About you
Strong production Go proficiency, including concurrency, cancellation, error handling, testing, and debugging
Experience owning backend design and delivery, resolving ambiguity, and explaining technical tradeoffs without continuous implementation guidance
Strong relational database skills, including SQL, data modeling, transactions, query performance, and safe migrations
Experience with APIs and asynchronous workflows that handle retries, duplicate messages, and partial failures
Practical experience diagnosing production problems and preparing safe releases and recovery
Clear communication and constructive collaboration with product and engineering colleagues
Willingness to learn Elixir and functional programming concepts
