Senior Backend Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help design, build, and scale software applications and platforms. This role combines hands-on development, technical leadership, and collaboration with customers. We're looking for someone who is passionate about solving complex problems, building reliable cloud-native systems, and mentoring others while maintaining a strong attention to detail. You should be experienced in leveraging modern AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, testing, debugging, and documentation while maintaining rigorous engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performing backend services and APIs using Python, GraphQL, and AWS.
• Lead technical design and architecture decisions for cloud-native and distributed systems.
• Collaborate with developers and customers to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Engage directly with customers during discovery, solution design, and troubleshooting discussions.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and engineering best practices.
• Drive improvements in reliability, security, observability, testing, and performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production and system-level issues.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining high standards of quality.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant backend development experience.
• Expert-level Python development experience in production environments.
• Strong experience designing and implementing GraphQL APIs and backend architectures.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services and cloud-native application development.
• Deep understanding of API design, microservices, distributed systems, and database design.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and operational best practices.
• Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with strong attention to detail.
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and mentor other engineers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience gathering requirements, managing stakeholder expectations, and engaging directly with customers.
• Proficiency with AI-powered developer tools and the ability to validate and review AI-generated code effectively.
