Sr. Benefits Analyst – Absence Management & Compliance
Job Summary
The Sr. Benefits Analyst – Absence Management & Compliance is responsible for the oversight and administration of the Company’s absence management, disability, and life insurance programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role provides oversight of Short-Term (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) claims, state Paid Family Leave (PFL) compliance, and health & welfare regulatory filings, while serving as a key partner to HR Business Partners and co-owning the MetLife vendor relationship. The role also supports Dayforce and related technology platforms to ensure accurate, compliant, and well-documented processes.
Key Responsibilities
Absence Management & Disability Claims
Provide oversight of Short-Term Disability (STD) and Long-Term Disability (LTD) claims administration and serve as the primary point of escalation for complex or disputed claims.
Proactively review disability claims to identify potential issues, trends, or risks and drive timely, compliant resolution.
Manage employee notices and plan offsets to ensure accurate claim outcomes and clear employee communication.
Collaborate with Payroll on STD payments, state offsets, and LTD transitions to ensure accuracy and continuity of pay.
Life Insurance & Premium Waivers
Administer life insurance premium waivers, ensuring processes are accurate, timely, and compliant.
Support life insurance claims from initiation through resolution, partnering with vendors and beneficiaries as needed.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight (Lead Compliance Analyst)
Serve as Lead Compliance Analyst, providing oversight and training to the HR team on health & welfare compliance requirements.
Monitor the regulatory landscape and ensure ongoing State Paid Family Leave (PFL) compliance, including program requirements and offsets.
Manage required regulatory filings, including PCORI, Gag Clause attestation, and Health & Welfare Plan Form 5500 filings and Summary Annual Reports (SARs).
Vendor Management & Reporting
Serve as co-owner of the MetLife vendor relationship, ensuring service levels, plan provisions, and contractual obligations are met.
Compile and analyze MetLife metrics, delivering monthly reporting to the HR Leadership Team (HRLT).
HRBP Partnership & Education
Educate, train, collaborate with, and provide proactive communication to HR Business Partners on absence, disability, and compliance matters.
Systems & Technology Support
Manage Maker’s Pride system user access to ensure appropriate, compliant access controls.
Support Dayforce and related technology platforms, including testing, content review, and the conversion/porting of processes.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field or a combination of education and work experience preferred but not required
Years of Experience: 3-5 years of benefits experience, with a focus on absence management, disability (STD/LTD), and/or health & welfare compliance in a multi-state organization, including in-depth knowledge of leave and disability programs.
Experience in an industrial environment with multiple labor unions is a plus
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of disability, leave, and life insurance administration and applicable federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., FMLA, state PFL, ERISA, ACA), including required health & welfare filings such as 5500/SAR, PCORI, and Gag Clause attestations.
Strong analytical skills to review claims data, monitor vendor metrics (e.g., MetLife), and identify trends, issues, and process improvements.
High attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a dynamic environment.
Excellent communication skills to educate and partner with HR Business Partners, guide employees through disability and leave situations, and coordinate with Payroll and vendors.
Technical proficiency in Dayforce (including testing, configuration support, and user access management) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
Proven ability to manage escalated and complex claims to resolution and to document standardized processes, notices, and procedures.

The pay range for this full-time, salaried position is $85,000 - $107,000 per/year. Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive based on company and individual performance.
