Job Description

SLB OneSubsea is seeking an experienced Sr. Control Software Engineer to design, develop, test and integrate control systems for subsea oil and gas applications.

The role involves PLC programming, control system hardware and software design, application development, testing, integration and technical support for subsea service projects. The candidate will work with global engineering teams and customers to deliver reliable and efficient control system solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement PLC control system hardware and software for subsea applications.
• Perform PLC programming using Ladder Logic, Structured Text and Function Block Diagrams.
• Work with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Siemens PLCs and legacy control systems.
• Develop and validate control system architecture, network architecture and system integration solutions.
• Prepare control narratives, logic diagrams, Cause & Effect matrices, Functional Design Specifications (FDS), HMI specifications and DBIO documents.
• Perform control system testing, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), System Integration Testing (SIT) and Extended Factory Acceptance Testing (EFAT).
• Develop HMI applications and support SCADA integration, preferably using ICONICS Genesis.
• Work with industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, CANbus, OPC, Profibus, ControlNet and DeviceNet.
• Provide engineering support during project execution, commissioning and offshore campaigns.
• Review engineering documents, software and design packages to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, vendors and customers to resolve technical issues.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the engineering team.

Essential Skills

• PLC programming using Ladder Logic and Structured Text.
• Allen-Bradley ControlLogix / CompactLogix or Siemens PLCs.
• Control system hardware and software design.
• HMI / SCADA development and integration.
• Industrial communication protocols: Modbus, CANbus, OPC, Profibus and Ethernet.
• Control system testing, FAT, SIT and EFAT.
• Basic knowledge of field instrumentation and control system networking.
• Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Knowledge of subsea control systems and Oil & Gas engineering standards.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in subsea oil and gas control systems.
• Experience with ICONICS Genesis SCADA.
• Knowledge of hydraulic power units (HPU) and subsea equipment.
• Experience in commissioning and offshore control system campaigns.
• Familiarity with ISO 13628-6 and ISO 15745-2 standards.

• 611 years of relevant experience in control system engineering, PLC programming and software development.
• Experience in Oil & Gas, EPC or subsea engineering projects.
• Strong technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with globally distributed teams.
• Good communication, project coordination and documentation skills.
