Sr. Database Administrator
Summary
The Senior Database Administrator will manage and support Oracle, Postgres, and MS SQL environments for federal government clients. The role involves daily health checks, maintenance, ticket queue management, and infrastructure process improvements.
The Work:
Responsible for delivering expert database administration support across Oracle, Postgres, and MS SQL environments within a mid‑ to large‑scale enterprise setting. Perform daily database health checks, validates backups, proactively monitors datacenter resources, resolves issues, and implements preventative measures. Support full lifecycle activities including planning, coordinating, and executing release notices, performing authorized maintenance, and deploying new servers or databases. Contribute heavily to operational excellence through dynamic user‑issue documentation, bi‑weekly updates, task‑based procedural documentation, and improvements to current infrastructure processes. Additional responsibilities include managing team ticket queues as needed, onboarding new team members, participating in weekly meetings, and helping drive enhancements in training, user documentation, and support tools.
Here’s what you need:
- 8 years of experience in database administration
• Strong to expert-level knowledge of Oracle, Postgres, and MS SQL databases and applications
• Ability to provide dynamic problem documentation (definition, resolution, reporting)
• Ability to support scheduled after‑hours maintenance
• Experience serving as queue manager to assign incoming tickets
• Industry experience developing, deploying, and supporting database systems at scale
• Full project lifecycle experience: design, development, implementation, documentation
• Experience with Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Enterprise Linux; Linux familiarity required
• Understanding of enterprise systems management (configuration management, ESD, etc.)
• Knowledge of scalability principles, economies of scale, and cost-of-ownership impacts
• Broad understanding of cloud technologies, applications, and protocols (TCP/IP, Active Directory, Oracle/Postgres/SQL DBs, Apache Tomcat, MS IIS)

The base pay range for this position in these locations is shown below.
