Sr. IT Business Analyst
The Senior IT Business Analyst is responsible for leading requirements definition, system integration analysis, and user acceptance testing for complex, cross-functional technology initiatives. This role drives platform and process improvements through data-driven insights and close partnership with Project Management, QA/Testing, and IT delivery teams. The Senior IT Business Analyst plays a key role in helping the organization implement technology solutions in a cost-effective way by determining the requirements of a project or program and communicating them clearly to stakeholders, facilitators, and partners, while also owning the voice-of-customer/voice-of-agent feedback loop and change management planning. This role directly supervises a team of IT Business Analysts, and is responsible for their day-to-day workload, performance, and professional development. This position draws on deep operational insurance experience to ensure system solutions translate into measurable improvements in cycle time, agent productivity, and customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Leads and/or supports projects improving workflows and processes
- Collects and analyzes data to evaluate operational processes; provides recommendations to secure meaningful, measurable improvement(s) through workflow redesign and system enhancement
- Serves as a coach that motivates, guides, and assists stakeholders and IT Business Analyst team members towards meeting deadlines and project targets
- Leads user acceptance testing (UAT) strategy and execution, including scenario design, test case development, and defect prioritization, for major platform transformations and releases
- Assists IT Business Analyst and stakeholders with testing plan development and quality assurance reviews
- Leads research regarding modern technologies and/or vendor options that leverage automation solutions to improve productivity
- Development and/or ensures the development of action plans and specifications related to organizational and/or process improvement recommendations
- Ensures compliance of quality assurance processes with appropriate regulatory and legal requirements
- Leads system integration efforts across multiple carrier and vendor platforms, managing downloads, commission reconciliation, and workflow configuration
- Synchronizes with other functional areas to secure input on their needs and/or determines the implications of process changes in their areas
- Leads change management and adoption planning for system rollouts across multiple offices/locations, including stakeholder communication, training, and support plan.
- Works with department leaders to develop technical solutions for business opportunities and advance the company's operational and sales efforts
- Defines, analyzes, and documents needs and requirements, including leading business case development
- Leads elicitation of complex, cross-functional requirements from business stakeholders, operations leaders, and end users
- Owns requirements management and communication across stakeholder groups throughout the project lifecycle
- Performs in-depth requirements analysis to identify gaps, dependencies, and downstream impacts
- Plans and monitors integration/development progress, working with stakeholders and development partners
- Serves as an interdepartmental subject matter expert, translating and simplifying requirements for projects
- Drives the design or review of test cases and process change requests
- Works with stakeholders for post-deployment quality assurance and accuracy
- Manages the scope and acceptance of projects, including the most complex or highest-risk initiatives
- Leads, mentors and provide guidance to IT Business Analyst team members, supporting their development and consistency of practice
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises, motivates, and coaches their IT Business Analyst team members towards meeting individual and project performance targets
- Assigns and prioritizes workload across their IT Business Analyst team based on project needs, deadlines, and individual capacity
- Conducts regular one-on-ones and reviews performance of their specific IT Business Analyst staff, identifying training and development needs
- Ensures consistency of business analysis practices, standards, and documentation quality across the team.
Desired Qualifications
- 7+ years of insurance operations experience, with desired exposure across personal, commercial, and non-standard auto lines and multiple distribution channels
- Proven track record of leading enterprise platform transformations, including UAT programs that validate usability, workflow integrity, and experience quality prior to release
- Experience building and integrating relationships across multiple carrier partners
- Proven experience leading change management and system adoption across a multi-location or multi-site footprint
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, clearly conveying ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and customer service skills
- Prior experience directly supervising or managing a team, including performance management, coaching, and workload planning
- Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools
- Bachelor's degree preferred; degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or a related field preferred
- Certifications such as Lean Six Sigma, Scrum certification or a similar process improvement or customer experience credential are a plus, but not required
- Requires a minimum of 5 years of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software tools; data processing and typing skills
