Sr. Linux Systems Administrator
Summary
Senior systems administrator supporting DoD/government IT in King George, VA: applies patches and fixes, troubleshoots and optimizes systems, manages accounts and backups, and writes SOPs across Linux (Red Hat), Unix (Solaris), and Windows environments. Requires 6 years of sysadmin experience, IAT Level 2 certification, and an active Secret clearance.
- Manage the installation and integration of systems fixes, updates and enhancements.
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, performance optimization and maintenance of hardware and software systems.
- Provide support including end user assistance. Perform functions such as managing accounts, network rights, access to systems and equipment; maintain systems configuration and backups.
- Create and maintain documentation, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Create, monitor, and maintain backups/restoration of systems and files.
- Conduct research of new and upcoming technologies.
- Provide input for future systems and purchases.
- Six (6) years of experience in systems administration in the following operating systems: Unix, Linux, or Windows.
- The specialized experience includes Linux system administration of Red Hat and security setup and updates (IAVAs); Unix system administration of Solaris, Unix scripting, Thin Client, Sudo, NIS, NTFS, CIFS, DNS, RDP Client, and security setup and updates (IAVAs); Windows system administration of WSUS and third-party solutions, GPOs Windows Server and Windows Workstations, Thin Clients (hardware/software) and documentation creation/updates.
- Ability to work independently under limited supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to install, configure, and maintain Operating Systems. General knowledge of enterprise frameworks and methodologies.
- Per (DoD) Directive 8140.01, this position requires the (IAT) Level 2 certification; this includes both an Information Assurance (IA) certification and an Operating System (OS) certification. The OS certification requirement will be for Unix/Linux or Windows.
- Active Secret security clearance.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $122,000 to $149,000.
