Job Overview

Responsible to achieve Quality, Cost and Time to Market targets for New Product Introduction across several groups of Customers / Product Lines. Coordinates the Procurement activities cross commodities and regions for DATA connectivity to achieve given gross margin & OI results, same as annual savings. Helps to build up strategic supplier relations for DATA in all regions for key commodities and technologies. The Sr. Mgr Procurement DATA connectivity will be part of the global DATA core team and represent procurement including voting right for NPI. He/She will ensure a healthy savings pipeline and traction and hold procurement functions and teams accountable for progress and execution. He/she will also work closely with Ops, SC and PJM, same as Finance, Engineering and Product Cost Mgmt on the overall pipeline and apply best practice sharing.

Tasks Summary & Responsibilities:

  • Support the team with setting challenging target cost commitment to facilitate project acquisition phase.
  • Provides support and guidance in communication with Product Line Management to understand and influence the Product Line Strategy and priority setting.
  • Core Team Member of the global DATA connectivity Core Team including voting accountability representing Procurement cross region and commodity
  • Ownership of Procurement savings pipeline and traction to achieve given annual cost improvement targets
  • Working closely with all regions on best practise sharing and strategic supplier build covering the globals needs of DATA connectity by ensuring fast and agile regional success, too.
  • Close collaboration with DATA product Cost Mgmt, same as Finance on Should costing visibility vs performance
  • Continuous screening of DATA portfolio with Product Management and Finance after G6 and opportunity generation into TEBIT
  • Regular screening of all TPA opportunities with ownership in Procurement and tracking of teams globally for execution
  • Creates visibility for the NPI road map to communicate the Product Line future requirements, goals & objectives. Responsible to facilitate awareness and gap closure accountability within the different Procurement Functions.
  • Transforms the product and process strategies into NPI and strategically sets up the team structure and functions
  • Support New Product Introduction to be on-time and in budget and supports necessary escalations to achieve customer timing and Projects Financial targets.
  • Promotes cost reduction initiatives using typical Procurement leverage such as incremental volume or VA/VE opportunities in order to maximise product line Operating Income.
  • Ensures compliance with TE Competitive bidding policy and Commodity strategies.
  • Participates & leads in negotiations with a significant impact to meet project financial targets.
  • Identifies and drives process improvements initiatives through the alignment with cross-functional & cross regional partners and functional owners.
  • Coaches and directs team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Economics or Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • Toolmaker (Stamping/ Molding or Assembly tools) with master degree
  • Minimum 8-10 years experience in Automotive Industry
  • Several years experience in Procurement and Project Management
  • And/or several years experience in a technical field, e.g. process engineering, product engineering, tool manufacturing.
  • Extensive experience in working with multicultural and cross functional teams
  • Several years experience in leading multiple direct reports including indirect and functional reporting. International team leadership is an advantage.

Special Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • This position requires a highly motivated individual with excellent analysis and problem solving skills, good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel.
  • High level expertise in procurement competencies – e.g.: business / supply chain acumen, negotiation, sourcing strategy development and execution, project / product lifecycle management)
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment with multi-cultural team
  • Excellent communication, project management, and presentation skills
  • Ability to energize and motivate Teams
  • Communicates comfortably at senior management level.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong customer focus and continuous improvement attitude.
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of SAP and Microsoft Office, i.e. Excel, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint
