About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Product Design to lead a high-performing team of product designers focused on AI-powered workflows that span our Product and Revenue product lines — the tools our customers rely on to communicate with their customers. This spans conversations, messaging, automation and intelligence surfaces that sit at the center of how agencies and SMBs run their businesses on HighLevel. You have spent 9+ years designing and leading complex products, including 3+ years managing designers, and are ready to guide a distributed team through ambitious, AI-driven product work. This role will report to the Senior Director, Product Design and manage approximately 8–12 product designers across the United States and India. You will lead design execution across AI workflow surfaces that cut across our Product and Revenue pillars, helping teams turn customer needs, business goals and technical constraints into clear, useful product experiences for the conversations and communications that power our customers' businesses.
This is a craft-driven management role for someone who stays close to the work. You will not be the primary production designer, but you should have the taste, product judgment and design fluency to improve direction, sharpen decisions and coach designers — with particular fluency in designing for AI-assisted and AI-generated experiences.
We expect candidates at this level to demonstrate exceptional visual and interaction design judgment, strong systems thinking and the ability to grow designers through clear expectations, critique, direct feedback and practical coaching. You should care deeply about the standards that make product experiences feel refined, trustworthy and coherent at scale — especially where AI is shaping how customers communicate with their own customers.
Experience leading B2B SaaS, platform, CRM, marketing technology, workflow-heavy or SMB software experiences is highly valuable. Experience using AI-powered tools for exploration, prototyping, critique, synthesis, documentation or workflow acceleration is expected, as is experience designing AI-native product experiences (e.g., conversational AI, automation, agentic workflows, or generative communication tools).
What You'll Do
- Manage, coach and develop 8–12 product designers across US- and India-based teams.
- Lead design execution for AI-powered workflows spanning Product and Revenue lines — the communication, messaging and automation experiences customers use to reach and engage their own customers.
- Connect customer needs, business goals, technical constraints and product strategy across these cross-cutting AI workflow surfaces.
- Set expectations for quality, accountability, collaboration, communication and delivery.
- Keep designers focused on the highest-priority work, help them manage ambiguity and clarify what is expected, blocked or ready for decision.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Data, design leadership and the Senior Director, Product Design to shape roadmaps, clarify tradeoffs and improve outcomes across Product and Revenue AI initiatives.
- Lead critiques, coaching conversations, quality reviews and launch-readiness discussions that improve usability, accessibility, interaction quality, visual consistency, design-system alignment and the quality of AI-assisted experiences.
- Maintain workstream visibility through useful rituals, crisp updates and timely risk escalation.
- Hire excellent talent, onboard designers and create clear development plans.
- Use AI-powered tools and workflows to accelerate exploration, prototyping, synthesis, documentation and production collaboration without lowering the quality bar.
What We Are Looking For
- 9+ years of relevant product design, UX or product experience work, including 3+ years managing product designers.
- Proven experience managing designers in complex B2B SaaS, platform, workflow-heavy or multi-product environments.
- An exceptionally strong portfolio that demonstrates product judgment, systems thinking, customer empathy, high-quality execution and measurable product impact — ideally including AI-powered or AI-assisted product experiences.
- Exceptional visual and interaction design judgment, with the ability to raise the quality of work across a team.
- Strong management skills with individual contributors, including keeping designers focused, unblocked, accountable and connected to the broader goals of the work.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to maintain visibility across workstreams and give leadership a clear view of progress, risks, tradeoffs and decisions.
- Experience leading critique, coaching designers, giving direct feedback and helping teams make stronger product design decisions.
- Working knowledge of design systems, accessibility standards, reusable patterns and scalable product experience decisions.
- Strong product judgement and comfort balancing customer needs, business outcomes, technical constraints and speed of execution — particularly across cross-functional Product and Revenue initiatives.
- Comfort designing for AI-native experiences: conversational interfaces, automation, agentic workflows or generative communication tools.
- Proven ability to hire strong designers, develop existing talent, support career growth and performance manage team members who need additional support.
- Experience managing distributed teams and working across time zones; experience working closely with India-based teams is highly valuable.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted production tools and enthusiasm for using them thoughtfully to improve design quality, communication and velocity.
How You Work
- You raise the bar for craft, visual sophistication, product quality and team execution.
- You stay close enough to the work to improve decisions, not only track progress.
- You teach designers how to recognize, critique and ship stronger product design, including for AI-powered experiences.
- You keep work visible, focused and moving without turning management into bureaucracy.
- You build trust through warmth, candor, accountability, direct feedback and respect for your teammates as people.
- You enjoy leading collaboration across time zones and cultural contexts, including with US- and India-based teammates.
- You communicate in ways that help distributed teams work with clarity, care, trust and momentum.
- You think across product boundaries — connecting Product and Revenue workflows around a shared goal: helping our customers communicate better with their customers.
