Sr Manager, Quality Engineering

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr Manager, Quality Engineering based in Brazil.

This is a senior engineering leadership role focused on building and maintaining high-quality software through robust quality engineering practices.
You will lead a team responsible for translating business requirements into functional and technical designs and comprehensive testing strategies.
The role has a strong focus on APIs, abstractions, integration patterns, and distributed computing challenges, including end-to-end and integration testing.
You will influence technical decisions through design reviews, code reviews, proof-of-concepts, and evaluations of emerging technologies.
Success in this position requires balancing technical depth with people leadership, productivity, predictability, and delivery excellence.

• Lead and develop a quality engineering team, ensuring strong collaboration, productivity, predictable execution, and consistently high-quality delivery.
• Review business requirements and oversee the development of functional and technical design documentation.
• Design and implement comprehensive testing procedures for APIs, abstractions, and integration patterns, including end-to-end and integration testing.
• Guide the team in addressing quality challenges associated with distributed computing and complex system integrations.
• Participate in architecture and design reviews, providing informed input on requirements, product designs, delivery schedules, risks, and potential technical issues.
• Review code and maintain accountability for the team's software development and testing activities.
• Oversee quality engineering practices and ensure testing activities effectively support business and product requirements.
• Lead or participate in proof-of-concept initiatives and technical evaluations of new technologies and engineering approaches.
• Promote continuous improvement in engineering and testing practices while maintaining focus on robust, scalable solutions.
• Encourage the effective adoption of emerging technologies, including Generative AI tools, to improve everyday engineering productivity and workflows.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 11+ years of relevant experience without a degree.
• Alternatively, 9+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, 7+ years with an advanced degree, or 3+ years with a PhD.
• Proven experience reviewing business requirements and producing functional or technical documentation.
• Strong experience designing and implementing testing strategies for APIs and integration patterns.
• Experience with end-to-end and integration testing in complex or distributed computing environments.
• Demonstrated experience participating in design reviews and influencing product requirements, technical designs, schedules, and risk management.
• Experience leading engineering or quality teams and driving productivity, collaboration, and high-quality delivery.
• Strong code review experience and accountability for software development and testing activities.
• Experience conducting technical evaluations and proof-of-concept initiatives involving new technologies.
• Ability to foster collaboration across distributed teams and align engineering execution with business needs.
• Experience delivering reliable and robust solutions in fast-paced environments.
• Digital fluency and willingness to incorporate emerging technologies, including Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, into engineering workflows.
• Advanced English proficiency.
• Ability to work remotely from Brazil.
• Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
