Sr Mechanical Design Engineer, Airbag Systems

Responsibilities

· Develop and release body interior components and subsystems into production, collaborating with attribute leads, cross-functional engineering teams, manufacturing team, engineering partners and other stakeholders.

· Support source selection activities, working with the Global Supply Chain team and suppliers to specify components, and ensure timely delivery for vehicle build activities

· Utilize CAD tools (CATIA V5/V6) and direct CAD design personnel on packaging, integrating and detailing components

· Execute quality and robustness activities such as DFMEA and DVP&R

· Support vehicle prototype and production build activities, ensuring proper fit and function of components and resolving issues

Minimum qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent or equivalent practical experience.

· 5 years of automotive engineering experience that includes design and release of interior systems (e.g. instrument panels, hard moldings, soft moldings, seating, and interior lighting)

· Experience with CAD design tools and process, and experience overseeing production drawing releases

Preferred qualifications:

· Experience successfully working with industrial design on concept feasibility

· Proven track record of delivery from concept through launch

· Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles and experimental hardware.

· Self-starter with creative and critical thinking capabilities, and demonstrates the ability to work autonomously and maintain communication with interested parties

· Excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
