Sr. MEP Project Engineer
Responsibilities
Strategic Project Engineering Leadership – 50%
- Serves as the senior engineering SME for complex capital projects and infrastructure initiatives.
- Develops and governs Engineering Owner's Project Requirements (OPR), engineering standards, and technical best practices.
- Reviews and approves Basis of Design (BOD) documents, major project deliverables, and technical submittals to ensure alignment with operational, reliability, and business requirements.
- Leads engineering participation in project gate reviews, risk assessments, and critical decision-making processes.
- Ensures owner requirements are integrated throughout the project lifecycle and leads project turnover planning and operational readiness activities.
- Provides technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to project engineers, facilities teams, and project stakeholders.
Commissioning Program Leadership – 25%
- Leads and governs commissioning and retro-commissioning programs in partnership with Facilities Operations and IFM teams.
- Develops commissioning standards, Owner's requirements, and performance expectations for major projects.
- Oversees third-party commissioning providers and resolves complex technical issues impacting project delivery and system performance.
- Identifies opportunities to improve building reliability, efficiency, and lifecycle performance through continuous commissioning initiatives.
Facility Operations Support – 15%
- Serves as a senior technical resource for Facilities Operations and asset management teams.
- Analyzes data from BAS, CMMS, and other building systems to identify operational risks and improvement opportunities.
- Supports lifecycle planning, asset performance optimization, and capital investment decisions.
- Provides technical oversight for contractors, consultants, and service providers.
Sustainability & Energy Management – 10%
- Leads engineering support for LEED-certified projects and sustainability initiatives.
- Identifies and evaluates energy-saving opportunities and operational efficiency improvements.
- Supports sustainability certifications, reporting efforts, and long-term environmental objectives.
- Advises stakeholders on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of related engineering, facilities, commissioning, or project management experience, including experience leading complex projects and cross-functional initiatives.
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of training and experience required; advanced degree preferred.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, controls, commissioning processes, and facility operations.
- Experience with BAS, CMMS (Planon or similar), and data analytics tools.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, manage technical risk, and drive project outcomes.
- Commissioning certification required or ability to obtain within the first year; advanced certification preferred.
- LEED accreditation preferred.
- Experience managing consultants, contractors, and third-party service providers.
