About the role
The Network Engineer joins the Technical Support Center (TSC), reporting to the TSC Supervisor. As the TSC's network escalation resource, this engineer resolves complex network and security incidents, completes approved changes, and supports clients' infrastructure project through the TSC's ticketing, scheduling, and change-management processes.
Key responsibilities
Manage assigned network and security tickets from the TSC queue in ConnectWise PSA, meeting response and resolution targets (SLAs) defined by the TSC Supervisor
Take escalations from Tier 1 and Tier 2 TSC staff, resolve them remotely, and document the root cause and fix so the team can handle similar issues next time
Respond to network monitoring alerts (e.g., link down, VPN tunnel failure, high utilization, HA failover) and coordinate with carriers and vendors (Cisco TAC, Fortinet TAC, AWS Support) as needed
Perform approved changes remotely during scheduled maintenance windows, with documented implementation, rollback, and validation steps
Provide clear shift handoff notes and status updates to the TSC Supervisor on open incidents, escalations, and changes
Help mentor TSC technicians through knowledge-based articles, runbooks, and informal training on networking topics
Design, deploy, configure, and maintain Cisco-based network infrastructure, including Catalyst and Nexus switching, ISR/Catalyst routing, and LAN/WAN environments
Deploy, configure, and manage Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, including firewall policies, NAT, security profiles (IPS, web filtering, application control, antivirus), and SSL inspection
Design and operate FortiGate Secure SD-WAN: SD-WAN zones and members, performance SLAs and health checks, SD-WAN rules for application-aware steering, and link failover
Build and maintain site-to-site IPsec VPNs (route-based, IKEv2), including ADVPN/overlay designs and VPN interoperability with Cisco, Meraki, and AWS endpoints
