Sr. Principal Architect/Lead - Platform

Leads the architecture and scaling of fault-tolerant platforms using Kubernetes, DevOps, and cloud/on-prem technologies, ensuring high availability and cost efficiency.
The successful candidate will lead the design and development of scalable, fault-tolerant platforms, leveraging Kubernetes, DevOps, and cloud/on-prem technologies. As the Sr. Principal Architect/Lead - Platform, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing our platform architecture. Your expertise in Kubernetes, DevOps automation, and distributed systems will be instrumental in building highly available, cost-efficient platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, fault-tolerant platforms using Kubernetes and DevOps practices.
- Architect and optimize multi-tenant shared services, including databases, MQTT, cert-manager, Keycloak, and blob storage.
- Ensure real-world availability, fault tolerance, and cost efficiency of platform services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and optimize platform solutions.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in platform architecture and design.
- Mentor and guide junior team members on platform-related matters.
- Document and communicate platform architecture and design decisions effectively.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex platform-related issues.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
- Extensive experience with Kubernetes deployment and cluster operations.
- Proficiency in DevOps code automation and GitOps workflows (ArgoCD).
- Deep understanding of distributed systems and experience operating them in production.
- Experience with vertical and horizontal scaling of applications and services.
- Strong knowledge of public cloud managed services (EKS, EC2, S3) and on-prem infrastructure equivalents.
- Expertise in networking, including L4/L7 load balancers.
- Ability to design and optimize multi-tenant shared services.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; PhD preferred.
