Description

Who are we?

We are Mexico's leading financial technology company, empowering over 100,000 clients to achieve their business goals. Our mission is to fuel the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through innovative solutions—including financing, corporate credit cards, and payment systems. We partner with entrepreneurs to help them overcome challenges, transforming their businesses into true engines of economic growth while contributing to the development of our community, our country, and the planet.

About the role:

As the Sr. Product Owner for Core Payments, you will lead the strategy and execution of our end-to-end payment processing roadmap, covering both Money In (authorization, processing transaction) and Money Out (disbursements, refunds, holds and chargebacks). Your mission is to drive a transactional volume exceeding 1 million monthly transactions, maintain top-tier approval rates, ensure accurate reconciliation between Money In and Money Out, and guarantee compliance with network and regulatory requirements (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, CNBV, Banxico), positioning our solution as a competitive leader in the Mexican acquiring ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Roadmap Management: Lead the Core Payments product lifecycle from ideation to launch, generating documentation (PRDs, user stories with technical acceptance criteria), defining core KPIs, and coordinating execution to recover and scale total payment volume (TPV).
  • End-to-End Payment Processing: Own the functional design and evolution of the payment infrastructure (Payments API, Gateway, Switch, processor and network connections), ensuring availability, performance and scalability across Card Present and Card Not Present flows.
  • Strategy, Segmentation & Routing: Define and design the smart routing rules by payment method, BIN and issuer (Chip+PIN, Contactless, e-commerce) to maintain an approval rate above 90%, while optimizing processing cost per transaction.
  • Money In / Money Out Reconciliation: Define the business rules, controls and operational processes for clearing, settlement, merchant payouts, disbursements, refunds and holds, ensuring every transaction reconciles end to end and reducing discrepancies and resolution times.
  • Certification & Compliance: Coordinate integration and certification cycles (e.g., EMV L3) with engineers, processors (e.g., PROSA, GETNET, e.global) and payment networks, guaranteeing compliance with PCI-DSS and network standards without creating development bottlenecks.
  • Operational Resilience & Troubleshooting: Partner with Tech on incident analysis and root cause, define monitoring, alerting and failover mechanisms, and use data and observability tools (SQL, New Relic) to minimize impact on approval rate and merchant experience.
  • Testing & User Experience: Collaborate with Business and Tech teams to conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) and continuously optimize payment flows and merchant experience.

Required Profile

  • Experience: 4+ years in payments product management or payment processing (Card Present and Card Not Present) within Fintechs, acquirers, payment processors, or financial institutions in Mexico. Proven track record of taking products from ideation to launch with a measurable impact on TPV, approval rate, reconciliation accuracy or chargeback reduction.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Systems, Software, Industrial, Financial), Business Administration, Finance, or related fields. A specialization in Product Management, Digital Payments, or Fintech is highly desirable.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of end-to-end payment processing in Mexico: payment methods (Chip, Contactless, QR, e-commerce), networks (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX), processors and switches, gateway architecture and ISO 8583 messaging, authorization, clearing and settlement flows, chargeback lifecycle, SPEI disbursements, and standards like EMV L3 and PCI-DSS.
  • Nice to Have: Experience with fraud prevention tools and risk scoring, MSI and prepaid voucher programs, and merchant onboarding and KYC processes. Prior experience at companies such as Clip, dLocal, Mercado Pago, Adyen or Square.
  • Soft Skills: English proficiency. Analytical, strategic, results-oriented profile with strong cross-functional collaboration skills (Tech, Business, Risk, Operations, Compliance).
