Summary
Senior Production Planner and Master Scheduler coordinates manufacturing schedules, material flow, and inventory to meet production demands while minimizing costs and disruptions.
The Senior Production Planner; plans, prepares, issues, and controls production schedules and directs material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of raw and approved finished goods materials timed to meet production requirements. Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, inventory levels, and potential production or material supply disruptions to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided on-time and at an optimal cost. Confirms material supply and demands and prepares production orders for the production of assemblies based on a master production schedule, sales orders, or direction of the Master Scheduler. Coordinates interdepartmental activity with Quality, Production, Purchasing, Engineering, and Inventory.
This position will additionally back up and assist the Master Scheduler.
Description of Master Scheduler:
This position is responsible for developing the master production schedule to satisfy customer demand while carrying minimum effective inventory and incorporating labor/machine capacities into the master schedule. An effective master production schedule will provide production, planning, purchasing and management the information to plan operations to optimize the business and meet customer requirements. The qualified individual will be responsible for providing production with a production plan consistent with the plant capacity and sales forecast. Will evaluate and analyzes data regarding processes and systems, resolve problems with inventory, production schedules, or materials shortages and recommend procedures to avoid future problems. The sales forecasts, new business opportunities, customer expectations and internal capacity will be used to develop production plans. This position will also build, track and discuss the revenue plan, and have large input into SIOP meetings and discussions. Strong collaboration with Business Development, Program Management, Operations, Supply Chain and Finance will be critical to meeting the business goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- This is a fully on-site position. No Remote work, No relocation.
- Develop, analyze and maintain the master production schedule to drive manufacturing schedules and procurement.
- Determine ability to meet requested customer dates based on capacity, cycle time and inventory lead times.
- Conduct capacity analysis.
- Conduct inventory scenario analysis and “what if” scenario’s.
- Create and maintain the SMT Schedule.
- Work with buyers and production planners to adjust build schedules based on material due dates and technical issues.
- Leads daily production meetings as well as multiple other meetings.
- Release work orders weekly to optimize workflow for kitting.
- Maintains and updates work orders.
- Expedites, closes and reconciles work orders; Works with Quality and Production to close work orders in a timely manner.
- Re-evaluates and adjusts work order quantities and dates.
- Evaluates open work orders for stragglers and issues; works with Production, Quality and Management to determine best actions.
- Verifies work orders match in Epicor and Aegis, investigates and resolves issues.
- Runs and analyzes Material Requirement Planning (MRP) reports.
- Provide material alignment status to work order statuses on Work Order Summary Review (WOSR).
- Provides commitment dates and updates to Sales and Management.
- Works with manufacturing supervisors to obtain feedback about production status.
- Gather data to support production meetings.
- Complies with quality procedures and guidelines.
- Completes special projects and compiles special reports as required.
- Initiate the Demand Change Authorization Form (“DCAF”) for new demand load or changes to the existing schedule within the guidelines of the Closed Loop Planning Process and manage the sales order process.
- Ensure on-time delivery of material kits to production.
- Participate in the ECO Implementation for open manufacturing orders (WIP).
- Manage materials relating to the procurement process through the MRB function.
- Report ongoing delivery status to CFT. Expedite material through purchasing and reprioritize production plans as required.
- Work directly within the CFT to coordinate all demand and supply actions to align materials to planned manufacturing work orders.
- Provide direction and demand change recommendations to the CFT based on material and short-term capacity constraints.
- Monitor schedule adherence and weekly shipments as well as production efficiency analyzing standard hours vs. actual hours expended
- Will coordinate with production any changes to schedules
- Communicate new ship dates to the CFT based on escalated final material-in dates.
- Must be results-driven and assertive with strong analytical and communication skills
- Must be able to work OT as required on month end/quarter end/fiscal year end.
