Sr. Program Manager, Inbound Strategy, Long Term Network Planning

Summary

Owns Amazon’s long-term EU inbound network design, balancing node types, locations, and capacities to meet speed targets while minimizing costs and guiding multi-year build plans.

Amazon's Inbound Long Term Planning team owns the topology framework that decides what the EU inbound network looks like in 2–3 years: which node types we build, where we place them, how they interact, and what inventory configuration they unlock. This role owns a critical slice of that framework — taking speed ambitions and placement targets and working backwards into the physical network design across 1DCs, RDCs, and IXDs that makes them achievable. It's the kind of problem where getting the answer right saves hundreds of millions of dollars; getting it wrong means we either over-invest or structurally cap our speed ceiling for years.

You'll work at the intersection of network topology, inventory science, and capital allocation — partnering deeply with Finance, IIPO, AIM, and business teams to determine the optimal long-term node configuration that delivers placement targets per outbound node type and selection cohort. This is a single-threaded role with high ambiguity and regular exposure to senior leadership across SCOT, Operations, and Finance.

Key job responsibilities
Key Job Responsibilities

- Own the long-term inbound topology framework — determine the optimal combination of node types, locations, and capacities that achieves placement targets at minimum total cost.

- Define network configuration per selection cohort — decide velocity demarcations between node types, regional zoning, and upstream storage share. Know when the model breaks and why.
- Build the multi-year inbound build plan — sequence node launches, size them against volume trajectories, and own the placement and inventory commitments that justify the investment.
- Resolve structural trade-offs that don't have clean owners. Frame options, quantify impact, and drive decisions when priorities across teams or geographies conflict.
- Align senior leadership to a single answer. Write the strategy documents that SCOT, Finance, IIPO, and Operations commit to. When priorities diverge, you reconcile.
